These instructions contain a description of the optional ceramic substrate centering unit on
SIPLACE 80 S-20, S-23 HM, F4 and F4-6, F5.
These machines possess the new PCB conveyor with PCB conveyor control. For that reason -
after the lifting table plate is removed - the solenoid valve and inductive proximity switch of the
option are electrically connected to the conversion PCB for the PCB conveyor control (see Sec-
tion 2.6).
The setup of the placement conveyor modules must be amended to use the ceramic substrate
centering unit.
.
The 2 fastening and centering holes used to mount the X-centering unit have already been made
in the lifting table plate.
The optional ceramic substrate centering unit is always installed in both PCB conveyors when-
ever machines with dual conveyors are involved. For the substrate centering unit, a 2nd solenoid
valve is mounted on the back of the compressed air unit (see Fig. 2.4.4).
NOTE:
For machines with the optional "PCB conveyor, left", install the designated retrofit kit ceramic sub-
strate centering unit for PCB conveyor, LH, item no. 00116914-01.
This retrofitting is not described here but can be performed in a like manner.

2.2 Safety Instructions
DANGER
Only Siemens service engineers are permitted to perform this retrofitting of the ceramic substrate
centering unit .
Comply with the higher ranking safety notes in Chapter "Operational Safety" in the User Manual
and Service Manual.
These SIPLACE machines are powered by 120V / 208V +/- 5% (US version) or 3 x 230V/400V
+/-5% 50/ 60 Hz line voltage.
Portions of the system are therefore conducting dangerous electricity - inside the machine even
while the master switch is turned off.
The machine has to be switched OFF and disconnected from the mains before you perform any
work. In addition, the compressed air supply must be turned off at the main valve of the com-
pressed air unit in the machine frame and the compressed air lines must be bled by actuating the
needle valve on the compressed air unit (particularly due to the risk of injury - posed by residual
air - at the pneumatic cutter).
When a dual conveyor is involved, there is a risk of having a body member pinched or crushed
between the fixed side of conveyor 1 and the movable side of conveyor 2 when the conveyors are
travelling at maximum width.
With all of these SIPLACE machines the Y-gantry must always be moved / pushed out
of the area of the component changeover table before changing tables.
Otherwise there will be a risk that the placement head may crash !!
Obey the applicable accident prevention regulations, DIN standards and special safety codes of
your country at all times. DIN EN 60204 must be adhered to during all work inside the machine.
Follow the instructions regarding residual voltages in Chapter "Operational Safety"
Comply with regulations on ESDs (see Chapter "Operational Safety"), e.g., when working on the
conversion PCB for the PCB conveyor control.
During the work of retrofitting secure the machine conscientiously against other personnel and
prevent it from being turned back on without authorization, as described in the Operator’s Manual
in the chapter "Locking the Machine...".
There is additional, higher risk of accident when working with the SITEST program.
The SIPLACE program is only to be started by personnel who are authorized to do so.
For the work with the SITEST program the component changeover table must be moved in and
correctly connected.
