15.2.6 Fine filter
If there is a risk of water contamination with solid particles with a diameter of < 1 mm during
operation, a fine filter of appropriate mesh size should be used. Mount the fine filter outside the
cooling unit while observing the flow direction.
Clean the fine filter after commissioning and at regular intervals.
15.2.7 Check valves, solenoid valve
These valves are used with open systems and higher consumers.
Mount the valves outside the cooling unit while observing the flow direction.
15.2.8 Digital thermometer (single/dual-circuit system)
The thermometer records the water inlet temperature, which is displayed on the control and
operating unit.
15.2.9 Temperature limit values
The water temperatures in the water circuit are monitored by limit values and if the set limit values
are exceeded or fallen short of a collective fault is triggered via the control and operating unit.
15.2.10 Tank heating as freeze protection
The tank heating is used to heat the water in the tank. In the case of a low ambient temperature and
lacking process heat, (e.g. machine downtime), this prevents the water from freezing.
The circulating pump is activated by a thermostat when there is a risk of frost. The electric heating is
controlled by a thermostat with sensor in the water circuit.
This option is only effective if the cooling unit is supplied with electrical power according to
the specification and the control remains active.
The risk of frost damage resulting from a power failure is borne by the system operator.
15.2.11 Flow switch
The flow switch is installed in the water inlet pipe and switches the flow in the water circuit. The flow
switches off the cooling if the flow rate falls below the minimum value.
15.2.12 Insulation of the water pipes and pump(s)
At water temperatures < +12°C the water pipes and pump(s) are insulated.
This prevents the formation of condensate.

15.2.13 Automatic water replenishment via float valve
If the water level drops below the tank minimum, water is automatically replenished via a float valve.
In accordance with the generally accepted rules of technology and in compliance with
national regulations, a system separator must be installed in the replenishment pipe if it is
connected to the public drinking water network.
15.2.14 Automatic water replenishment via 3-stage float switch and solenoid valve
If the water level drops below the tank minimum, water is automatically replenished via a float valve.
In accordance with the generally accepted rules of technology and in compliance with
national regulations, a system separator must be installed in the replenishment pipe if it is
connected to the public drinking water network.
15.2.15 Flow rate monitoring
In the control and operating unit for the cooling units, the integrated flow sensor monitors the flow
rate. If the flow rate drops below the set value, a collective fault is triggered and indicated via the
diagnostic code on the control and operating unit.
15.2.16 DI cartridge
Many procedures and production processes require pure water.
DI mixed-bed water deionisers create pure, fully demineralised water through ion exchange. They
remove all dissolved salts, carbon dioxide and silicic acid from the water.
During operation, the inlet water (drinking water) passes through the ion exchange resin from top to
bottom. The resins remove the salt from the inlet water in countless chains as it flows through. The
level of demineralisation of the water is indicated by a conductivity meter (accessory) installed in the
pure water pipe. When the specified limit value has been reached, according to the intended
purpose, the mixed-bed water deioniser must be replaced and regenerated.
The time when this occurs depends on the quality of the inlet water, the installed materials and level
of cleanliness during operation.
15.2.17 Guide value monitoring
In the control and operating unit for the cooling units, the integrated guide value sensor monitors the
guide value of the water circuit. If the set guide value is exceeded, a collective fault is triggered and
indicated via the diagnostic code on the control and operating unit.

15.3 Electrical equipment
15.3.1 24 V control
The cooling unit can be switched ON or OFF using a 24 V remote control.
The 24 V signal is to be connected according to the wiring diagram.
15.3.2 Connection cable
The cooling unit is supplied ready for use with an Ölflex cable.
15.3.3 Connection cable with plug
The cooling unit is supplied ready for use with an Ölflex cable and plug.
15.3.4 Control cabinet – heating
The control cabinet heating is installed in order to stabilise the control cabinet interior temperature
relative to the ambient temperature (condensate formation), and to ensure minimum temperatures
for switching and control devices in the control cabinet.
15.3.5 Control cabinet – ventilation
The ventilation is used to remove heat from the control cabinet, to ensure even heat distribution and
to help prevent condensate formation. When this ventilation function is used, the cooling unit has a
degree of protection of IP 23 (standard).
15.3.6 Control cabinet – cooling
The control cabinet cooling is installed in order to stabilise the control cabinet interior temperature
relative to the ambient temperature (condensate formation), and to ensure minimum temperatures
for switching and control devices in the control cabinet.
15.3.7 Special option: Degree of protection IP 44 / 54 / 65
These degrees of protection can be implemented depending on the application and installation
location of the cooling unit.
15.3.8 Differential regulation
When used as a differential controller, the controller's control setpoint is calculated as the sum of the
measured reference variable and the set differential with the aim of controlling the variable following
this value.
If the temperature exceeds or falls below the set limits, the system switches from the differential
regulation to fixed-setpoint regulation.
15.3.9 Pump switch-off following collective fault
In the event of collective faults, the pump is switched off via the controller.
Following fault elimination and diagnostic reset on the controller, the pump is switched on again.
If the collective fault is triggered by the set temperature limit value and the pump is subsequently
switched off, a restart is necessary.
The restart is performed following the diagnostic reset with the control switch OFF/ON or remote
start OFF/ON. The limit value alarm is suppressed for 30 min. The pump starts and the water
temperature may fall to below the set limit value.
