Function:
Following switch-off of the consumer in the frost period, the mains isolation switch for the cooling
unit must remain switched on, thus enabling the pumps and the electric heating to enter standby
mode.
If the temperature in one of the water circuits sinks, the pump(s) and the electric heating are
switched on. The pumps and the electric heating are switched off again when the frost protection
setpoint temperature is reached.
The minimum clearances must be complied with during installation to ensure error-free operation of
the cooling unit and sufficient space for maintenance and repair work, in accordance with the
diagram.
Use a weather protection cover
This reduces the risk of the liquefier or fans becoming blocked with snow, leaves, dust etc.
Moreover, the cooling unit is not exposed to direct sunlight. We recommend the use of heat-
reflecting material at the installation location.
Example figure
The wind load and, if applicable, the snow load must generally be taken into consideration if
the cooling unit is installed outdoors, and especially if it is installed in an exposed position,
for example, on the roof of a building. The cooling unit may need to be firmly fixed to the sub-
surface.

15.7 Special options
15.7.1 Heat recovery
With this option, heat can be recovered for heating purposes or processes requiring higher flow
temperatures.
The usable portion of the recovered waste heat decreases as the flow temperature of the customer
water circuit increases.
With this cost-effective solution, an exiting heat pump system can be supported, supplemented or
even replaced entirely. The cooling unit can also be used without heat recovery, thus making it
highly flexible to use.
15.7.2 Radial fan attachment
The use of optional radial fans allows longer exhaust air ducts to be created.
The exhaust heat can be directed in a targeted manner, depending on the time of year and ambient
temperature:
Heating in winter or no hall heating in summer.
The ductwork must be configured according to local conditions and is therefore not included in the
scope of supply.
The ductwork should be designed and installed by a specialist ventilation company. The duct cross-
section must correspond to the device surface area as a minimum. To prevent cold air from entering
the device via the duct (risk of frost at temperatures below +5°C), the exhaust air duct must be
sealed off from the outside with air-tight, insulated multi-leaf dampers.
(Detailed documentation on radial fan attachment available on request.)
15.7.3 Energy saving system (ESS)
The energy-saving system (ESS) uses an additional heat exchanger for flexible adaptation to the
ambient temperature. Multimode allows the system to switch between passive chilling (free cooling),
active chilling and mixed operation. Depending on the ambient temperature and flow temperature,
energy costs for cooling are reduced by more than 50%.
15.7.4 Reduced noise
With the reduced noise version, all components – such as fans, compressors, pumps etc. – are
installed with a minimal noise level. The compressor is also fitted with a sound protection hood.

15.8 Accessories
15.8.1 Vibration kit
For casing sizes 5 - 8
The vibration kit comprises the following:
Vibration damping corner foot (1)
Vibration damping centre foot (2)
The vibration kit can be used to decouple the cooling unit from solid-borne noise transmission from
its relevant contact surface/base.
For example:
Installing the cooling unit
a) On a roof or
b) Ground-level noise reduction version
Example figure
Pipework must also be decoupled during installation.
