This document supports eComStation 2.x and higher and IM-UPS 6.0 and higher.
Procedure #1: Install eComStation (BCM MX61H Motherboards)
Use this procedure on machines with the BCM MX61H motherboard.
Perform the procedures in the sequence provided to install eComStation.
Prerequisites
• Back up IM-UPS if it is already installed on the machine and if the
machine is functioning.
• Obtain the appropriate eComStation CD or DVD and the license
key.
• The BCM MX61H motheroboard has been intstalled or has been
identified.
1. Boot Up Machine, Verify BIOS, Start
Installation
To start the installation, do the following:
1. Power-up or boot up the VME chassis. While it is powering up, press
the Delete key several times until the BIOS screen displays.
2. Select Save & Exit > Load Optimized Defaults.
a. Press Enter.
b. Select Yes.
c. Press Enter.
3. Select Advanced > SATA Configuration > SATA Mode
Selection.
a. Press Enter.
b. Select AHCI.
c. Press Enter.
d. Press Esc.
4. Select Chipset > PCH-IO Configuration > Restore AC Power
Loss.
a. Press Enter.
b. Select Power On.

c. Press Enter.
d. Press Esc.
5. Place the appropriate eComStation CD or DVD in the drive.
6. Press F4, then press Enter. Wait for the eComStation boot prompt to
display.
7. Select the following in the first screen that displays:
a. Select Boot from eComStation CD-ROM.
b. Press Enter.
8. Select the following in the second screen that displays:
a. Select Boot with default values.
b. Press Enter.
9. Verify that Keyboard layout is set to US-English. (The appropriate
defaults should already be set.)
10. Select Next.
11. Accept the License Agreement, and select Next.
A message displays, “Checking disk integrity. Please wait…”
12. Determine the next action:
• If the hard disk in the system is not new, it should pass the integrity
check. Do the following:
a. Verify Easy Installation is selected.
b. Select Next. Continue with the next procedure.
• If the hard disk in the system is new, it will fail the integrity check.
In this case, continue with the next procedure.
2. Set Up the HDD Partition (New Hard Disk
Only)
If the hard disk in the system is new, it will fail the integrity check, and a
message displays indicating there are no partitions on the drive.
Do the following:
1. Select Fix Problems. A confirmation dialog displays.
2. Select Close. A message displays indicating a reboot is required.

3. Select OK. A message displays indicating shutdown has completed.
4. Type Ctrl+Alt+Del to reboot the PC. Wait for the reboot to complete.
5. Select Boot from eComStation CD-ROM, and press Enter.
6. Select Boot with default values, and press Enter.
7. Process the keyboard settings and license agreement again as follows:
a. Select Next. (The appropriate defaults should already be set.)
b. Accept the License Agreement, and select Next.
A message will display that reads “Checking disk integrity.
Please wait…”
No disk problems should be found.
8. Verify Easy Installation is selected.
9. Select Next. Continue with the next procedure.
3. Enter Registration Information
Enter the standard serial number by selecting the boxes and typing as
follows:
1. Turn on Caps Lock to perform this operation more easily.
2. Select the Registration Name field, and type in the information from
the CD/DVD:
The dash that is part of the name must be typed.
3. Select the Registration Key field, and type in the information from
the CD/DVD:
(Do not use the Tab key to advance from field to field; the cursor will
advance from field to field automatically.)
When all information is entered properly, the Next button will become
available.
4. Select Next to continue.
4. Set Up Installable Volume (New Hard Disk
Only)
The system will now state that there is no installable volume available. This
is normal.
