This document supports eComStation 2.x and higher and IM-UPS 6.0 and higher.
For a new hard disk, do the following:
1. Select OK to launch the Volume Manager.
2. Select Volume > Create New. A pop-up dialog displays.
3. In the first pop-up dialog, do the following:
a. Ensure Standard (bootable) volume is selected.
b. Select Next.
4. In the second pop-up dialog, do the following:
a. Ensure the Letter field has C selected.
b. Turn off Caps Lock if it is on.
c. Select the Name field, and type System, and select Next.
5. In the third pop-up dialog, do the following:
a. Select the Volume size field, and type 60000 (sixty thousand).
b. Select Finish. Volume Manager will now show the newly-
created “C” drive.
6. Select System > Save changes or press F2. A confirmation dialog
displays.
7. Select Yes.
8. Select the System > Exit or press F3. The Volume Manager window
closes.
9. Select Next to continue.
5. Format Drive, Set Time, Configure Hardware
In this procedure, the “C” partition will be formatted, Daylight Savings Time
will be set, and the hardware will be configured.
1. Select File System > High Performance File System.
2. Remove the X from Check for errors while formatting.
3. Select Format.

4. Select Start in the warning dialog that displays.
It will take about 8 minutes to format the partition. During this process,
the progress indica-tor will move only a few times and may seem to be
“stuck” at one spot for long periods of time. This is NORMAL; activity
can be verified by observing the hard drive LED.
5. Select OK when the formatting operation completes.
6. Set up the Daylight Savings Time as follows:
a. Add an X in the Daylight Savings Time is used check box.
(This is for English.)
b. Select Next.
7. To configure the hardware, do the following:
a. Select Next (all defaults should already be defined correctly).
b. Select No Audio Adapter > Next.
8. Continue with the next procedure.
6. Configure Network
To configure the network, do the following:
1. Select Next (all defaults should already be defined correctly).
2. Select Next (all defaults should already be defined correctly).
3. Select the Workstation ID field, and replace with the appropriate
identifier for the machine.
4. Select the LAN Domain field, and do one of the following:
• If on a domain, replace “WORKGROUP with the appropriate
domain name.
• If not on a domain, do not change the field.
5. Select Next. The initial configuration of the system is now complete.

7. Copy Files, Start Post-Installation Tasks
To copy the files, do the following:
1. Select Next to begin the process of copying the operating system files
onto the hard drive.
It will take approximately 15 to 20 minutes for all the files to be
copied. This process is automatic and can be left unattended until it has
completed.
• During this time the system will reboot twice. Although a screen is
displayed before each reboot, no action is required.
• After each reboot, another screen displays asking if the system
should boot from the hard disk or the CD-ROM. Always allow the
system to boot from the hard disk.
• After the automated process completes, the system will boot to the
desktop, and the Post-Installation Tasks screen displays.
2. Continue with the next procedure.
8. Set Up Screen Resolution
To set up the screen resolution, do the following:
1. Select the Screen tab.
2. Select the Screen button. This will cause a secondary Screen dialog to
be displayed.
The Screen dialog displays different depending on which video driver
is in use; this does not matter.
3. Select the Resolution field, and select 1024x768.
4. Select the Colors field, and select 64K.
9. Disable ePager
To disable ePager, do the following:
1. Select the ePager tab in the Screen dialog.
2. Use the mouse to stretch the top of this dialog upward so all the options
are visible.
3. Remove the X from the Enable check box.
