2.1.5. Fixing the Vinyl Tape

Secure the upper cover tape coming out of the tape guide. As shown in Figure 2-9, drape

the upper cover tape coming out through the tape guide on the drain tensioner. Create a gap

between the drain handle and drain gear by pressing the drain handle and insert the vinyl

tape into the gap between the drain handle and drain gear.

Caution When securing the upper cover tape, exercise care so that it

is not twisted.

Move the drain handle down to secure the vinyl tape and check whether the vinyl tape is

placed on the tensioner properly. Then pressing the home button will stop the vinyl tape

discharge motor after pulling the vinyl tape until certain tension is formed on the vinyl

tape by driving the vinyl tape discharge motor.

2.1.6. Setting the Pickup Point

The SME tape feeder can be transferred to the pickup point (pickup position) indicated by

a triangular mark by pressing the forward and backward buttons on the operation panel

located on the handle.

2.2. Installing the SME 12~88mm Feeder Tape

2.2.1. Opening Tape Guide

Press the tape feeder locker in the arrow direction by (1) hand and pull the (2) tape guide

up to open it.

Caution When installing a tape in the feeder, exercise care not to have a

finger jammed into the tape guide.

 Do not pull the tape guide up excessively.

 Install the tape in the feeder in the specified order without fail.

 Since the SME 12~88mm tape feeder is heavy, be careful not to

drop it while transporting it.

 Be sure to use a standard tape such as JIS or EIA for the feeder.

 Use only the right size component reel tape for the feeder.

 If the front part and locker of the tape guide are deformed, the

part pickup rate may be reduced. Therefore, exercise great care

when storing and using the feeder.

Caution Dismantling the feeder could cause damage or injury. If a

feeder malfunctions, please contact our CS company (STS)

or local agent.
