3.2. Maintenance of tape feeder
Caution Perform the maintenance of the tape feeder at a clean and
safe place.
Manipulating the tape feeder by applying excessive force
may damage it. Do not manipulate the tape feeder by
applying excessive force.
Ensure that the components of the tape feeder will not be
lost and missing during maintenance and exercise care so
that fingers are not jammed in the feeder during
maintenance.

3.2.1. Tape guide and vinyl moving cover
If foreign materials such as chips become jammed between the main frame surface and the
tape guide surface, remove them.
Figure3.5 Removing foreign materials from the feeder’s vinyl moving cover
Caution Exercise care so that the sprocket and tape guide are not
contaminated with grease.
Ensure the area near the part pickup position is always clean and
free of foreign materials.
3.2.2. Removal of foreign matter on the sprocket areas
When supplying parts, if a part broken out from the tape due to feeding error and pickup
error is jammed between sprockets, a pitch error or defective part supply occurs. When
changing a tape, always check this and if foreign material is jammed, remove it.
Particularly, in the case of the feeder feeding a micro part such as 0603 chip, it is not easy
checking the corresponding part with the naked eye. Therefore, check carefully for any
foreign material on .the sprockets.
