1 Introduction
This user manual contains technical information and descriptions to operate the SIPLACE Linear
Dipping Unit 2 X (LDU 2 X).
1.1 Module Description
The LDU2X is a special feeder module that makes flux available in a pre-defined layer thickness.
Components can be dipped into the flux to improve their solderability. The LDU2X is set up on a
changeover table in the same way as any other X-feeder module and is controlled by the station
software and SIPLACE Pro (line software).
The LDU 2 X can be ordered in a special version, which provides the possibility to use a special
dipping plate with an adjustable cavity depth. This option allows a more flexible operation and also
may reduce the number of LDU 2 X units if multiple cavity depths are needed in one placement
task.
NOTICE
It is not possible to retrofit an Auto Cavity option to a standard LDU 2 X.
1.1.1 EU Declaration of Conformity
The products/devices described below conform to the regulations and standards listed in the EU
Declaration of Conformity provided.

●
Use of unauthorized accessories and additional modules
●
Use of the placement machine by unqualified personnel
1.1.4 Requirements and restrictions
●
The LDU 2 X can be used on all placement machines with an X-table.
●
A maximum number of 2 LDU2X can be set up on an X-table.
●
The LDU 2 X can be used with all placement heads.
●
For operating the LDU 2 X, station software version 711.0 or higher and SIPLACE Pro version
15.0 or higher are required.
●
The LDU 2 X can handle component sizes from 0.2mm x 0.2mm up to 42mmx42mm.
When using a placement machine X4i with a WPC (waffle pack changer) the maximum
component size is reduced to 32mmx32mm.
●
The LDU 2 X with Auto Cavity option can handle component sizes from 0.2mmx0.2mm up
to 15mmx25mm.
●
Using the LDU 2 X in the placement process reduces the placement rate of a machine.
●
The LDU 2 X can be operated outside the machine with the help of an SSE (Single Slot
EDIF). In this operation mode some functions, e.g. removing and fitting parts, are not avail-
able.
●
When dipping components, no placement data are generated for the Operator Information
System (OIS).
