4.2 Machine files
As of software version 504, there are 2 databases. MA-Daten.mdb and MA-Achsen.mdb.
Machine-related configuration, measurement and parameter data is stored in *.MA files.
The MA-Daten.mdb database contains all standard data except the standard data for the axes. This
data is stored in the MA-Achsen.mdb database.
Note:
All machine data and the database (see machine data database feature) must be of
revision level 50 (version 505.01). Current machine data must not
be replaced by revisio
n
levels of an earlier version, either completely or partially, e.g. revision level 40 (version
504.01).

4.3 Installing the machine controller on a CPU076 (HF and HF/3)
4.3.1 BIOS setup
The CPU buffers the current CMOS settings in a flash EPROM. If the CMOS settings are lost, they
will be restored from the flash settings on the next power-up.
Note:
For a detailed description of the BIOS, see the technical description
CPCI-/SMP16-CPU076.
Settings marked in blue, bold and italics have been changed from the default BIOS settings.
4.3.1.1 IDE Primary/Secondary Master/Slave
Auto
The device parameters are automatically determined when the system is
started.
Manual The device parameters can be entered by hand (only in Access Mode CHS).
None
No IDE device has been connected or a connected device is to be ignored.
Auto is set by default.
4.3.1.2 Access Mode
Auto
The device parameters are automatically determined when the system is
started.
LBA Hard disks > 528MB which support Logic Block Addressing mode (LBA).
CHS Hard disks < 528MB
Large Hard disks > 528MB which do not support Logic Block Addressing mode
(LBA).
Auto is set by default.
If Manual and CHS are selected for the device, the disk parameters can be entered.
Cylinder
Number of cylinders
Head Number of read/write heads
Precomp Write precompensation
Landing Zone Landing zone
Sector Number of sectors / cylinders

4.3.1.3 Drive A / Drive B
Drive A: Set the format of floppy drive A: None, 360K, 5.25 in.; 1.2M, 5.25 in.;
720K, 3.5 in.; 1.44M, 3.5 in.;
2.88M, 3.5 in.
Drive B: Set the format of floppy drive B:
None, 360K, 5.25 in.; 1.2M, 5.25 in.;
720K, 3.5 in.; 1.44M, 3.5 in.;
2.88M, 3.5 in.
For drive A: None is set for fail-safe and 1.44M, 3.5in. for optimized default.
For drive B: None applies in both cases
4.3.1.4 Video
Enter the type of graphics adapter in this field. Options are: EGA/VGA, CGA 40, CGA 80, Mono (for
Hercules and MDA). If an adapter has been installed with VGA or a higher resolution, select
EGA/VGA. The default setting is EGA/VGA.
4.3.1.5 Halt On
If this option is activated, the BIOS stops if it detects an error during the boot phase and issues an
error message. If this option is not activated, the BIOS continues without an error message and
uses the default values for processing. If the option is activated, the following causes of errors can
additionally be ruled out:
All Errors
Every error generates an error message.
No Errors No error generates an error message.
All, But
Keyboard
Keyboard errors do not generate an error message.
All, But Diskette Diskette and hard disk errors do not generate an error message.
All, But Disk/Key Diskette, hard disk and keyboard errors do not generate an error message.
All, But Keyboard is selected as the default setting.
