8
Blow off excess oil remaining in the
nozzle.
As in step 5, insert the air blow gun into the
air joint section and blow air through the
spline shaft while holding a cleaning cloth or
paper towel against the lower end of the
head.
9
Check that the oil was removed.
If needed, blow air through the spline shaft
again while using commercially-available oil
blotting paper, and check for residual oil in
the nozzle.

n
NOTE
Performing step 8 is usually sufficient to remove residual
oil. However, if oil still remains then blow air once again.
0
Reinstall the nozzle.
Reinstall the nozzle back onto the head after
checking one more time that there is no oil
remaining there.
Step 9
Checking for residual oil
Oil blotting paper
Oil will appear after blowing air (first
time) for about 5 seconds from the
nozzle tip.
Repeat the air blow for about 5
seconds each from the nozzle tip
and from the attachment side.
This task is finished when oil no
longer appears.

2.2 Cleaning and greasing the X, Y, YT and W axis ball screws
e
1
Press the emergency stop button.
The machine must be in emergency stop to
ensure safety during work.
2
Clean the ball screws.
1. Move the head (or conveyor table or
rails) to one end of its axis.
Use the handle when moving the head.
2. Wipe away the old grease and dirt from
the ball screw with a lint-free cloth or
paper towel (for clean room use).
3. Move the head (or conveyor table or
rails) to the opposite side of its axis and
wipe the ball screw.

c
CAUTION
Wipe away thoroughly the old grease in the lead
groove of the ball screw. Also check that no debris and
residue remain in the lead groove.
3
Apply new grease to the ball screw.
1. X, Y and YT axes
Use a grease gun to supply the specified
grease (NSL) through the ball screw
grease nipple.
2. W axis
Apply the specified grease (NSL) by hand
uniformly over the surface and lead
groove of the ball screw.

n
NOTE
When greasing, we recommend using a bent type
grease gun nozzle (K48-M3854-00X available as an
option).
Inject grease into each grease nipple until new
grease comes out.
4
Remove excess grease. (X, Y and YT
axes)
1. Move the head (or conveyor table) to
one end of its axis.
Use the handle when moving the head.
2. Wipe away excess grease from the ball
screw and the nut edge.
3. Move the head (or conveyor table) to
the opposite side of its axis and wipe
away excess grease from the ball screw
and the nut edge.

5
Check the greasing. (X, Y and YT
axes)
1. Close the safety cover and cancel
emergency stop.
2. Warm up the machine for about 8
minutes.
e
3. When the machine has stopped, press
the emergency stop button, and wipe
away grease deposits from the ball screw
and the nut edges.

6
Check the greasing again. (X, Y and
YT axes)
1. Close the safety cover and cancel
emergency stop.
2. Warm up the machine for about 8
minutes.
e
3. When the machine has stopped, press
the emergency stop button, and wipe
away grease deposits from the ball screw
and the nut edges.
c
CAUTION
Repeat the above steps until finally there are no longer any grease deposits. If production is carried out with grease
deposits still left, this may cause flying grease particles that may badly affect production yields.
