3 Important preparations prior to

installation

All computers must have been set up and prepared appropriately in advance for the complete in-

stallation of SIPLACE Pro to function correctly.

These preparatory measures demand knowledge about the administrative functions of Windows

and SQL Server. Please contact your system administrator for assistance if required.

This installation guide only describes the procedure for a installation configuration called "stand

alone installation" and "standard configuration".

 Network access rights must have been set up in order to permit data exchange with the UNIX

line computer.

Caution

For more detailed information which software is essential and has to be successfully in-

stalled before conducting the installation of SIPLACE Pro please refer to the Support Me-

dia DVD and the respective manual.

Furthermore, you require Windows administrative rights for all computers on which

you are installing SIPLACE Pro.

Before installing SIPLACE Pro make sure you use Prerequisite Analyzer of Support Me-

dia and select SIPLACE Pro as planned Product to install all required missing prerequi-

sites for SIPLACE Pro (e.g. License Manager, Operation Manager, Error Reporter, Net

Framework).

Caution

If you install SIPLACE Pro via remote desktop connection, ensure that you establish a

connection to the session for administering the server. This can be done by using the pa-

rameter “/admin” when executing the remote desktop application mstsc.exe. To avoid

conflicts with running applications, ensure that no other users are logged on to the server

during the installation.

Note

By default, Support Media installs SQL Express editions only. If you want to use SQL

Server edition instead, install it manually by following the steps described in the SQL in-

stallation documentation on Support Media before using Prerequisite Analyzer for further

preparation. We strongly recommend you follow the installation documentation on Sup-

port Media, since it describes the settings needed for SIPLACE Line Software.

4 Installation of SIPLACE Pro and pos-

Various setup types are available for installation to enable you to install the system components

you want to have on the specific computer. To achieve this, various setup types have been defined

which install the required system components accordingly.

The following setup types are at your disposal:

(1) Custom

(2) SIPLACE Pro Complete System

(3) SIPLACE Pro Desk

(4) SIPLACE Pro Line Control GUI

(5) SIPLACE Pro Line Control Server

(6) SIPLACE Pro Programming System

(7) Siplace Pro Server.

Refer to 4.3 on page 29 for details about the contents and installation procedure of the individual

setup types.

4.1 Factory Layouts and Setup Types

The following graphics show examples of typical factory layouts with the respective setup types

installed on the workstations.
