2.1. Installing the SME 8mm/W4P1 Tape Feeder
Caution Do not pull the tape guide up excessively.
Install the tape in the feeder in the specified order
without fail.
Be sure to use a standard tape such as JIS or EIA for
the feeder.
Use only the right size component reel tape for the
feeder.
If the front part and locker of the tape guide are
deformed, the part pickup rate may be reduced.
Therefore, exercise great care when storing and using
the feeder.
Caution Dismantling the feeder could cause damage or injury. If a
feeder malfunctions, please contact contact our CS
company (STS) or local agent.
2.1.1. Opening Tape Guide
(1)Push aside, (2) open by lifting up the locker of SME 8mm/W4P1 tape feeder.

2.1.2. Fixing the Tape Reel
Fix the tape reel as indicated in the figure paying attention to the winding direction.
In the case of the tape feeder, after inserting the reel into the reel post, insert it into the
groove and secure it.

2.1.3. Installing the component tape and Exit of the carrier tape
Pass the tape through groove A, B, C as shown in the figure below.

The tape consists of two parts, the upper cover tape and the carrier tape.

After passing the upper tape and transportation tape between the tape guide slot and main
frame as shown in the figure, strip off about 30cm of the upper cover tape from the end,
Strip off about 35cm of the upper cover tape from the end, and pass it through the tape slit
as shown in the figure. Pass the carrier tape through groove D.
Caution When the distance from the end of the feeding tape to the
pickup position is short, the tape may get caught. Therefore,
ensure that the distance is sufficiently long before use.
