1Introduction
This manual provides technical information and describes how to operate the X feeders in the
SIPLACE® family.
1.1 Module Description
A new generation of feeder modules has been developed for the X-series of placement machines. Im-
portant features are the high precision of the pickup position, online programmability at the feeder mod-
ule and easy handling when changing feeder modules during the placement process. The power supply
to the feeder modules is contactless and uses an inductive interface on the component trolley docking
unit. Each feeder module communicates with the feeder module control unit (FCU) on the component
trolley docking unit via two optoelectronic channels (optical fiber). The feeder module control unit is, in
turn, connected to the machine's control unit via the CAN bus.
1.1.1 Serial Number of Module
The serial number is located on the type plate at one side of the module.
1.1.2 EU Declaration of Conformity
The product/device described conforms to the regulations and standards listed in the EU Declaration of
Conformity provided.

1.1.3 Correct Usage
The product may only be used for the application described in the catalogues and technical specifica-
tions i.e. for placement of SMD components and only in connection with the third party devices and com-
ponents recommended or approved by ASM Assembly Systems.
Any other use is deemed to be incorrect and not as prescribed.
If the product is not used as prescribed, ASM Assembly Systems accepts no liability for any damage that
may occur and does not guarantee that the components will work properly and without problems.
Prescribed or correct usage includes the observance of all the instructions in the user manual.
The proper and safe operation of the product requires correct transportation, storage, installation and
assembly, plus careful, accurate utilization and servicing.
1.1.4 Incorrect Usage
Failure to use the product as prescribed can result in both danger to life and limb and material damage.
For this reason any use that is not prescribed is not allowed. If the product is not used as prescribed,
ASM Assembly Systems accepts no liability for any damage that may occur and does not guarantee that
the components will work properly and without problems.
Failure to use the product as prescribed includes, for example:
The use on other machines than those machine types officially approved by ASM Assembly Systems
for this product.
The use of the product in a working environment which deviates from that described in this manual.
The use of the placement machine with the installed product by unqualified personnel.

1.1.5 Environmentally-Friendly Disposal of Materials and Components
SIPLACE products are manufactured using only materials and parts that can be easily separated and
disposed of in an environmentally-friendly way. Hazardous materials are not necessary for the installa-
tion, dismantling or operation of the machine.
1.1.6 Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC)
All SIPLACE products are designed and tested for professional use in industrial applications. Electro-
magnetic compatibility in terms of the emission of interference cannot be guaranteed in any other envi-
ronment.
1.1.7 Use of Original SIPLACE Accessories and Spare Parts
Only use original spare parts and authorized accessories. The use of other parts will affect safety and
will invalidate the liability for any consequential damage.
NOTICE
The company operating the system has sole responsibility for the proper, environmentally-
friendly disposal of machines, working materials, consumables and wear parts.
Please observe your national statutory provisions for waste disposal and environmental pro-
tection.

This manual contains basic notes on assembly, operation and maintenance of the module. The service
engineers, qualified staff, operators and users must therefore read it before commencing installation and
commissioning. Make sure that the manual is always available wherever the module is operated.
