3.4. X-Classificator
The classifier module is processing the measurement data to analyse the profile
of solder joints and/or component assembly criteria.
Every joint type has its own specific rule-set for all relevant defects. To achieve
an optimum of testability - classification groups can be broken down to the
smallest valuable characterization fragment grouping …even down till pin specific
analysis.
Combinations of absolute and relative measurements are possible – the new
classification technology is transferring multi rule criteria into a 2 axis system to
generate optimum Good/Fail separation conditions.
Figure 15a gives an overview on the classification principle. The integrated main
techniques are presented in the following figures:

Fig.15b: Rule Classification and Editing (Standard Rule Format)
The classifier was developed for manual and automatic generation of rules based
on pre-classified result data. The system offers manual rule generation, autorule
generation (tree-based) and autogeneration of manual rules.
In addition existing rules can be processed. The setting of rule conditions is
supported by histogram presentations of measurement value distribution.
The defect tag results are statistically evaluated and presented in tables and
diagrams.

Autorules can be generated with the TreeTrain feature of the classifier software.
For those autorules a tree-based presentation per joint type with variable ranking
information is available.
