5. Lift the pump (1) clear of the support bracket that it is fixed to. At the same time carefully pull
the flexible hose through the access hole in the bulkhead.
6. Remove the magnetic Vacuum Manifold (5) from the rear of the pump.
NOTE
The flexible vacuum hose can remain attached to the manifold.
7. Remove the finger guard (3).
8. Remove the replacement pump from its packaging.
9. Clean and reuse the original finger guard.
10. Align the finger guard over the studs on the support bracket.
11. Pull the magnetic vacuum manifold and the attached flexible hose through the access hole on
the bulkhead (refer to the reference graphic above).
12. Clean the manifold and check the condition of the hose.
13. Attach the manifold to the pump.
14. Lower the pump assembly onto the finger guard.
15. Align the holes and fit and the four M6 nuts; tighten using a 10mm spanner.
16. Plug the mains connector into the socket on the control enclosure.
17. Remove the lockout from the printer’s mains isolator and switch the printer ON.
18. Check that the pump works.
19. Replace the lower rear panel.
5.4.2 Flexible Hoses
The flexible hoses are accessible behind the pump assembly. To gain access, the pump needs to
be removed. There is an access hole in the bulkhead that allows the engineer room to remove the
hose clips (see Diverter Valve graphic below). The hoses (items 3 and 5) and the riser pipe (6) are
attached using 45-60mm worm drive hose clips (2).

1. Carry out the previous procedure to remove the pump (steps 1 through 8).
2. Using a flat bladed screwdriver unscrew and remove the two hose clips (2) at both ends of the
hose (items 3 or 5 as required).
NOTE
It may be necessary to remove the Diverter Valve to get good access to the riser pipe hose
(5).
3. Twist and pull the hose away from the hose connectors (1 and 4) on the pump/diverter valve
and the vacuum riser pipe (6).
4. Clean all surfaces around the hose connectors.
5. Place the hose clips onto the replacement hose(s).
6. Replace the hose(s) as required. Ensure that each hose sits fully on the connector and pipe
without kinking or folding.
7. Secure the hose(s) with the clips (2). Ensure the clips are tight enough to make a seal without
hose slippage.
8. Attach the manifold back onto the vacuum pump.
9. Replace the pump.
10. Replace the printer’s lower rear panel.
11. Remove the lockout from the printer’s mains isolator.

12. Switch the printer ON and test.
5.4.3 Vacuum Pump Enable Controller (VPEC)
The vacuum pump enable controller (VPEC) enclosure is a complete item replacement. There are
no user serviceable parts.

1. On the printer’s front cover, turn the mains isolator switch to OFF and lockout the switch.
2. Gain access to the assembly by removing the lower rear panel.
3. Remove the mains cable from the socket (4).
4. Remove the mains cable from the plug (1).
5. Remove the signal cable from the socket (2).
6. Remove the four M4 x 8 counter-sunk head screws (3) using an 3mm Allen key.
7. Lift the enclosure clear of the support bracket.
8. Replacement is the reverse of the removal procedure.
9. Replace the printer’s lower rear panel.
10. Remove the lockout from the printer’s mains isolator and switch the printer ON.
