3 Installing SIPLACE Explorer
There are two different types of installation for SIPLACE Explorer 3.11: 3
– Initial installation of SIPLACE Explorer 3.11
Choose this option if you do not yet have a version of SIPLACE Explorer installed on your
system. Follow the instructions at “Initial Installation of SIPLACE Explorer 3.11” on page 21.
– Update installation of SIPLACE Explorer 3.11. Choose this option if you already have an
executable version of SIPLACE Explorer 2.0 - 3.10 installed on your system. Follow the
instructions at “Update Installation of SIPLACE Explorer 3.11” on page 25.
NOTE
To ensure a reliable data quality from SIPLACE Explorer, make sure that the versions of all
supported data sources match the version of SIPLACE Explorer installed. This means, that you
need to update the supported data sources with an initial or upgrade installation of SIPLACE
Explorer. 3
3.1 Initial Installation of SIPLACE Explorer 3.11
The software components required for SIPLACE Explorer can be found on the ASM Software
Collection USB Medium R20-2 USB stick and on the Support Media. 3
(1) SIPLACE Explorer (see page 25):
There are three different installation options for SIPLACE Explorer: 3
– SIPLACE Explorer Runtime Environment
– SIPLACE Explorer Factory Configuration Utility
– SIPLACE Explorer Development Environment

Consider the following before beginning the installation: 3
NOTE
Before you install SIPLACE Explorer, make sure that SIPLACE License Manager 4.x has
been installed on your computer. Install this software component via the Support Media. 3
NOTE
Before you install SIPLACE Explorer, make sure that Java SE Runtime Environment 8u202
has been installed on your computer. Install this software component via the Support Media.3
WARNING
Do not install "SIPLACE Explorer Runtime Environment" and "SIPLACE Explorer
Development Environment" on the same computer. These two options will not run parallel to
one another. Before working with these options in succession, make sure you know the steps
for starting/terminating the respective option and observe these. 3
NOTE
If you install the SQL server on the SIPLACE Explorer server, install the SQL Server Data
Too ls .
After the installation, define the SQL Server Data Tools path in the DB Maintenance dialog
box. 3
(2) Support Media:
The system will be checked for the required software components and their versions. You will
see the result of this check in a notifications window and can then install any missing
components via this option. 3

The following software components are included on the Support Media and will be installed
when required: 3
– Java SE Runtime Environment 8u202
Install Java on the same computer as SIPLACE Explorer. 3
– Java jTDS JDBC driver, version 1.3.1 driver
To access the SQL databases, the Tomcat Webserver and SIPLACE Explorer Server use
the Java driver jTDS (http://jtds.sourceforge.net/). You can find the licence conditions under
www.gnu.org/licenses/old-licenses/lgpl-2.1. 3
The Support Media installs the jTDS driver in the Tomcat installation folder (Lib folder). 3
SIPLACE Explorer installs the jTDS driver in the SIPLACE Explorer installation folder (Lib
folder). 3
The Support Media installs the jTDS driver, version 1.3.1. You can update this version with
a newer version of the jTDS driver. 3
– Tomcat 8.5.57
– Microsoft Internet Explorer
Microsoft Internet Explorer is required to view and edit websites. 3
– Adobe Reader 10
This component is needed for reading the SIPLACE Explorer documentation. Adobe
Reader 10 is included on the Support Media. 3
For a detailed description of the specified installations, refer to the document “Navigation
Guide for the Installation Procedure of SIPLACE Software Systems”. 3
Consider the following before beginning the installation: 3
NOTE
Before installing Tomcat 8.5.57, make sure that all versions of Tomcat < 8.5.57 have been
uninstalled. Use the Apache Tomcat uninstallation program. This can be started via the
Start Programs Apache Tomcat Vx Uninstall Tomcat menu in Windows. 3
