Exchanging components
Æ End all placement operations on the placement system.
Æ Shut down the Windows NT operating system correctly, otherwise problems may occur when
restarting or data may be lost.
Æ Switch the placement system off at the main switch.
Æ Disconnect the placement system from the main power supply.
Æ Switch off the machine and attach warnings signs to indicate that service work is in progress.
11.2.2.1 Safety Instructions for Work on the Cutting Device
WARNING: Risk of injury when working near the cutter.
If you wish to work on the tape cutter, you must disconnect the machine from the mains supply
and compressed air supply.
Wait until the operating pressure has dropped to 0 MPa.
Always secure the machine against unauthorized reactivation.
Wear appropriately thick protective gloves when working near the blades/the tape deflector!
There is a high risk of injury from stationary blades and moveable blades and from the tape
deflector of the cutter, even when the machine has been turned off!
Never reach into the pneumatic cutter from below or into the empty-tape duct from above, not
even to resolve a problem (e.g. when tape is jammed).
CAUTION: Risk of injury when performing service work on the cutter.
Never support the cutter on your body (e.g. on your knee or thighs). Do not place your feet under it.
Wear appropriately thick protective gloves.
When removing the cutter, hold it only on the left and right, on the outside.
Make sure that no one can injure themselves on the cutter after it has been dismantled!

11.2.3 Safety Instructions for the Compressed Air Supply
11.2.4 Safety Instructions for Working with Strong Magnetic Fields
CAUTION: Risk of injury from compressed air!
Risk of injury when disconnecting the compressed air lines.
NEVER disconnect compressed air lines while they are still pressurized.
ATTENTION: Prolonged interruptions to the compressed air supply can cause damage.
When the machine is switched on, do not use the stop valve to interrupt the compressed air supply
for more than 30 minutes.
If you need to shut off the compressed air system for longer, in order to carry out maintenance
or servicing work, you must switch the placement system off at the main switch and disconnect
it from the power supply.
WARNING: STRONG MAGNETIC FIELDS
Fatal hazard: persons with active implants (e.g. pacemakers, defibrillators, insulin pumps etc.) are
at risk from strong permanent magnetic fields inside the machine.
Persons are risk should avoid the immediate vicinity of the machine.
CAUTION: DANGER OF CRUSHING
Risk of crushing/trapping for persons with passive metal implants (e.g. plates, screws).
Do not reach or lean over into the machine when the protective cover is open.
Do not bring any metal objects into the area.
ATTENTION: STRONG MAGNETIC FIELDS
There is a risk that the strong magnetic fields could corrupt data on data media or credit controller
boards and check controller boards.
Keep sensitive data carriers away from the permanent magnets.

11.2.5 Use as prescribed
The product must only be used for its intended purposes as described in the catalogs and
technical descriptions, namely the placement of SMD components, and only with the third-party
equipment and components recommended or permitted by Siemens A&D. Use for a different or
extended purpose is not prescribed.
If the product is not used as prescribed, Siemens accepts no liability for any damage that may
occur and does not guarantee that the components will work properly and without problems.
Use as prescribed also includes compliance with all the instructions in the user manual.
For the product to operate correctly and reliably, it must have been transported, stored, erected
and assembled correctly and must be operated and maintained with care.
11.2.6 Failure to use as prescribed
Failure to use the product as prescribed can result in both danger to life and limb and material
damage. For this reason any use that is not prescribed is not allowed. If the product is not used
as prescribed, Siemens accepts no liability for any damage that may occur and does not
guarantee that the components will work properly and without problems.
Failure to use the option as prescribed includes, for example:
operation with other machines than the approved machine types by Siemens AG.
operation of this option within an environment differing from that one specified in this manual.
use of the placement machine with the installed option by unqualified personnel.
