Causes Items for Check or Caution
Defective
reel
hanger
rotation
Damaged and deformed reel stopper part. Check if the reel stopper operates properly.
Material
fallen on
the floor
Since the material is heavy, it exceeds the
brake operation range.
Check if the material rotates while the reel brake
operates.
Defective
rotation of
material
The width of the material exceeded the
width of the material of the 8mm 13” part
reel.
Check the width at the center of the reel material.
3.3. Troubleshooting of Frequent Error
3.3.1. Defective component supply
Any defective in the component supply, such as the tombstone and flipping of the
component, separation from the tape, etc. is generally caused by irregularities in the
shutter area.
Occurrence of Wear and Distortion to Major Parts
The part pickup position may be changed due to wear and distortion of major parts.
Therefore, perform calibration of the feeder periodically using a calibration jig.
☞ Calibration Cycle: Perform calibration of the feeder per 1.5 million times of feeding
or per six months.
Deformation of Tape Guide and Shutter
When the tape guide and shutter are deformed with the tape being installed, failure of
pressing the part (chip) causes defective part feeding.
In addition, even when the part comes out being scratched while moving backward since
the shutter height is low, it causes the defective part feeding.
☞ Perform replacement in the sub-assembly state with the tape guide being assembled
with the shutter.

Bad lubrication around the shutter area
This condition occurs when the shutter and the tape guide is not fully lubricated (if the
frictional force is felt when the shutter is moved back and forth manually).
☞ Solve this problem by applying the lubricant between the shutter and the tape guide.
If the problem persists even after the application of the lubricant, change to
subassembly state where the shutter is assembled into the tape guide.
Cylinder Air Leakage
Check the feeder pneumatic pressure of the MMI or check for the sound of air leakage
occurring around the cylinder.
☞ Check for the problem and contact our designated C/S (STS) or local agent.
Spring Wear and Cutoff
Check if the spring cannot perform its function due to wear or it was cutoff.
☞ Check for the problem and contact our designated C/S (STS) or local agent.

Caution
If the spring assembly is disassembled at random for
maintenance and inspection, after sales service is not applied
to it. Do not disassemble the spring assembly at random.
Tape Guide Locking
If the tape guide is not locked, the upper tape and lower tape may get out of the
designated position, causing defective part feeding.
☞ Check if the tape guide is locked.
Existence of Foreign Material around Sprocket
If a part escaped during defective feeding remains on the sprocket and ratchet, defective
part feeding may occur.
☞ Check for the remaining part and remove it using a brush or air gun.
Existence of Foreign Material When Installing Transfer Tape
When installing the transfer tape, if a part or foreign material is stuck between the tape
guide and transfer tape, defective part feeding may occur.
☞ Check for the existence of a part or foreign material and remove it.
3.3.2. Pitch error
When the component is not transported to the pickup point as set by the pitch.
