WARNING
!
!
The gantries will be moving during the performance of the function described in this section. Prior to the exe-
cution of this function make sure that neither any part of your body nor any objects are in the traversing range
of the gantries - DANGER OF INJURY.
Functions of the different types of mapping
PCB Mapping:
In PCB mapping, the gantry position is measured in relation to a high-precision glass plate. The data thus
determined are stored and used by the station software for the corrrection of the X and Y-coordinates.
RV Mapping:
Owing to the gantry offset, the PCB - RV camera offset (X- and Y-distance between the camera and the
revolver head) depends on the gantry position. RV mapping is designed to determine any change of the
PCB-RV- camera offset at the respective measuring points of the glass plate. The data thus determined are
stored for use by the station software.
IC Mapping:
Owing to the gantry offset, the RV camera - IC tube offset (X- and Y-distance between the camera and the
tube) depends on the gantry position. IC mapping is designed to determine any change of the RV camera - IC
tube offset at the respective measuring points of the glass plate. The data thus determined are stored for use
by the station software.
4.1 Preparatory Steps for the Mapping Operation
Using the "RV-Head ref. run", "IC-head refer. run" and "Gantry refer. run" menu functions have the gantries
approach their reference positions.
Select the Select gantry option (applies to SIPLACE 80S only) and press the RETURN key.
The "Select gantry" menu opens.
Select the gantry 1 active menu option for gantry 1 and press the RETURN key.
Press the ESC key to return to the SITEST main menu.
Select the Functions menu option and press the RETURN key.
The "Functions" menu opens.
Select the Width adjustment menu option and press the RETURN key.
The "Width adjustment" menu opens.
Adjust the width of the PCB conveyor to the width of the mapping plate using the functions of the "Width
adjustment" menu.
Press the ESC key to return to the "Functions" menu.
Select the Conveyor menu option and press the RETURN key.
The "Conveyor" menu opens.
Manually slide the PCB stopper to the center of the conveyor width.
Select the PCB Stopper function to extend the stopper and press the RETURN key.
The stopper is extended.

Slide the mapping plate onto the center conveyor.
NOTE
For the RV- and IC-mapping a mapping plate with a dark, dull surface must be used.
CAUTION
!
On no account
must the PCB clamping mechanism be actuated during PCB mapping
. If the mapping
plate for PCB mapping is clamped, it may be damaged so severely that it cannot be used any more.
For RV-mapping and IC-mapping select the
PCB clamping
function from the "Conveyor" menu to clamp
the mapping plate and press the RETURN key.
Press the ESC key twice to return to the SITEST main menu.
4.1.1 PCB Mapping
NOTE
Verify that the calibration data for the component camera, the PCB camera, PCB/component camera offset
and the MA-zero point have already been determined.
From the main menu select the
Mapping
option and press the RETURN key.
The "Mapping" menu is displayed on the screen.
Overview of the Functions:
-
Mapping mode Menu for the selection of the mapping resolution
-
PCB-mapping Menu for the mapping run with PCB camera
-
RV-mapping Menu for the mapping run with the RV-head
-
IC-mapping Menu for the IC-mapping run with the IC-head
-
Read mapping file to read in the mapping data file

If you wish to change the resolution that is used to determine the data during the mapping run, select the
Mapping mode
option from the "Mapping" menu and press the RETURN key.
The "Mapping mode" selection menu opens.
Explanation of the options:
-
Standard resolution 13 x 11 measuring points are determined with a fiducial spacing of 40 mm
-
High resolution 26 x 21 measuring points are determined with a fiducial spacing of 20 mm
Select the desired mapping resolution and press the RETURN key.
Press the ESC key to return to the "Mapping" menu.
From the "Mapping" menu select the
PCB-mapping
function and press the RETURN key.
The "PCB-mapping" menu is displayed on the screen.
Overview of the Functions:
-
Mapp.-plate number to open the input menu for the number of the mapping plate
-
Mapping run to start the mapping run
-
Mapping cont. run to start the continuous mapping run
-
Mapping check run to approach the mapping positions (one position per row) for checking purposes
-
Display mapping data to display the mapping data determined
-
Mapping data ct. run to display the data determined during the continuous mapping run
-
Display control data to display the setpoint positions calculated upon the mapping check
(taking into account the correction values from the measured values file, the
rotational offset, the gantry offset, etc.)
-
Continue PCB-mapping to continue mapping from the entered measuring point onwards
-
Mapp. both gantries to perform the mapping run for both gantries of SIPLACE 80S
(Gantry changeover is carried out automatically. The mapping run is first
performed for gantry 1, thereafter for gantry 2.)
