● If you have upgraded EDM and kept your settings from a previous version, you should
manually remove one line at the very end of EDM.config.
► Remove the following line:

● Feeder inventories and restriction objects
It is possible to edit the feeder inventory at the EDM Line Server (by adjusting the filter
configuration).
CAUTION
– If you accept changes in the Clearing Pool, you overwrite existing definitions and
previously accepted changes. It is therefore strongly recommended to use a
separate feeder inventory object for each SIPLACE line.
– Similar problems could occur for restrictions on SIPLACE Pro Desk. It is therefore
recommended that you activate the filter for optimizer restrictions Disable all
changes to Optimizer Restrictions.
● Encoding of configuration files (Unicode)
Some editors for text files or XML files do not follow the Unicode encoding scheme for
configuration files. If you use characters that do not belong to the standard 7-bit ASCII
character set (i.e. German umlauts in the EDM Client comment fields), make sure that you save
the configuration files as Unicode (e.g. UTF8). The standard Microsoft editor notepad.exe
provides this option in the Save As… dialog box.
● Restoring objects with pending changes in EDM Clearing Pool
Customized workflows may need to be modified to benefit from this feature.
● Selecting multiple objects
– Multiple objects cannot be compared.
– One and the same object cannot be imported from two different lines – in this case no
object is imported.
– A currently running import operation cannot be canceled.

using the InstallShield Wizard as well as any possible configuration steps to be performed
manually.

8 Troubleshooting
If the EDM software is causing problems, you should use the new error reporting tool to report the
error information. The error reporting tool is provided on the Support Media DVD (Item No.
00383100-xx) that is included with every software product.
