1-3-2. Removing the wheel cover
Procedure for removing the wheel cover
Note that removal of the wheel cover should be made only when it is required.
If you don't have to remove the wheel cover, go to the section 1-3-3, [Cleaning
the spindle main body].

From outside of the cover, visually make sure that the spindle has
completely stopped.

Using the I/O CHECK screen, open the wheel covers of the Z1-
and Z2-axes.

Turn OFF the main switch and pull out the key.
4
Turn OFF the circuit breaker and lock out the circuit breaker lever
with a padlock or the like.

Shut down the facility power.
6
Remove the blade breakage detector.
For the procedures for removing the blade breakage detector;
See the section 1-2 of this chapter, [Cleaning the Blade Breakage
Detector Sensor].

1-3-3. Cleaning the spindle main body
Procedure for cleaning the spindle main body
CAUTION
- Be careful not to touch the edge of the spindle. If your fingers or
hands touch it, you may be injured.
- Do not use the scrubbing cloth to clean the taper section. Such
cloth scratches the surface of the taper section, which deteriorates
its accuracy.

With wastes, clean the thrust bearing section and air curtain outlet.
With the lint-free cloth moistened with alcohol, wipe off soil on
the spindle front rid, air outlet and seal ring.

Make sure that air is discharged from all round the air outlet.

If the air outlet is blocked with soil;
With a soft nylon brush such as toothbrush, rake out soil of the air
outlet. And then, perform the step procedures of No. 1 and 2.
