8 New Functionality
8.1 Software Version 503.01
8.1.1 Placing 0201 Components
8.1.1.1 Purpose
For Typ 0201 components, solid-state pick-up has been implemented in order to minimize
pick-up errors. 8
8.1.1.2 Description
NOTE
Please refer to the Placing 0201 Components User Manual for a detailed description. 8
8.1.2 Component Sensor
8.1.2.1 Purpose
In addition to the vacuum check as Component presence control respectively, a Component sen-
sor has been introduced to function as an added optical control. This ensures that a on edge pi-
cked-up
component with varying component height and width is recognized. 8
8.1.2.2 Description
NOTE:
Please refer to the Online Help and the Component Sensor Operating Guide for a detailed de-
scription. 8

8.1.3 Synchronous Dual Transport
8.1.3.1 Purpose
Synchronous dual transport allows you to treat printed circuit boards that simultaneously
engage on both transport input conveyors as a logical printed board. This serves the purpose to
increase the transfer rate for cluster which requires a different pipette configuration. 8
8.1.3.2 Description
NOTE:
Please refer to the UNIX Line Computer Operating Guide and the Software Guide for the
respective machine for a detailed description. 8
8.1.4 Synchronous Restart
8.1.4.1 Purpose
If the connection between line computer and station is disrupted during running operation,
a dialog containing the corresponding information is displayed. After reboot of the line computer
under a running station, the communication between line computer and station is resumed,
and the dialog closes automatically. 8

9 Software installation
9.1 General definitions
9.1.1 Initial installation
The first time the station software is installed on the computer system of a SIPLACE machine is
known as the „initial installation“. During this installation the following items are installed on the
hard disk of the station computer: The individual software components for the „SC“ (station com-
puter) and „MC“ (machine controller), and also sample machine data. 9
9.1.2 Update
If an initial installation has already been carried out, and you subsequently wish to install a later
version of the station software, this process is known as an "Update". The update process does
not overwrite the saved machine data!
You are able to tell which version of the software you have by looking at the last two characters of
the software version.
Example
SR.503.01 SR = System components 503 = Version number 01 = Release status
(station computer)
NOTE
Software versions which have later release numbers are versions where errors have been cor-
rected. In terms of function, these versions are NOT different to older release versions and are in
principle compatible. 9
9.1.3 Upgrade
The installation of a software version with a version number higher than the existing, installed
version is known as an „Upgrade“.
When upgrading, the machine data is maintained and is automatically converted to the new data
format.
The range of functions of the station software is identified by the three-figure number (version
number) which gives the complete software version identification.
Example
SR.503.xx 503 = Version number Identifies the range of functions of the software.
