2.3 Brief Overview of Work Sequence
S-23 HM machines can be upgraded to S-25 HM (platform 2) as follows: 2
1. De-install the old touch-screen driver (see: Section 2.8.1)
2. Hardware modification (see: Section 2.8)
Å Undock the movable component changeover table, i.e., disconnect it and move it out of the
machine.
Å Turn the machine OFF and isolate it from the mains. Turn compressed air OFF and bleed
at needle valve.
Å Install conveyor control TSP 210, backplane and I/O boards KSP 219.
Å Install relay for the automatic compressed air shutoff.
Å Attach the new set of labels for feeder locations and gantries
and overview labels for servo unit and control unit.
Å If a 14" monitor is still fitted: Remove the monitor, mount the e156 adapter on the PC carrier
3, place the 15" monitor e156 on the adapter and connect the monitor.
Å Optional: Install 6-segment head on gantry 1 and/or 2 depending on the configuration you
wish.
Å Optional: when installing a 6-segment revolver head when NO MTC is being installed:
Install new nozzle changer RV6 Standard on the pertinent gantry.
For retrofitting the MTC and the nozzle changer MTC -> see: “Retrofitting instructions”,
Item no. 00192792-02 (G + E)
.
Å On the nozzle changer RV12 Standard: Mount new nozzle wiper (bar) with 2 fiducials. The
fiducials are already on the nozzle changer RV6 Standard (from the retrofit kit).
The SW V 502.01 needs the fiducials for position recognition.
3. Firmware upgrade (see: Section 2.9.3)
Å Conveyor control TSP210: If no firmware is installed -> load firmware (boot disk MC).
Load the current version later in SITEST (download separately, manually).
Å Axis boards: In case of BIOS version under 0207: Read in BIOS version 0207 or higher with
CAN_Terminal. Correct BIOS version present -> Download BIOS firmware later in SITEST
(download separately, manually).
4. Installing the software V 502.01 at the station (see: Section 2.9.3)
Å BEFORE the installation:
Connect the monitor correctly (Touch Screen). No error message is transmitted.

Adjust screen setting -> see: Section 2.9.
Å Installation -> see: Section 2.9 and Software Version Description V 502.01 (station).
Å After the installation:
Upgrade ALL available firmware (axes, TSP210 ...) in SITEST (BIOS AND APPLICATION)
-> see: "Firmware Download" in the Software Version Description / Software Guide SITEST
V 502.xx.
5. Adjusting the configuration (see: Section 2.10)
Å Automatic shutoff of the compressed air
Å After installing a 6-segment head (RV 6-DLM1):
Configuration of the 6-segment head and the nozzle changer RV6 Standard in SITEST and
after installing SW LRU V 502.01 on the line computer.
-> see: Software Guide SITEST V 502.xx. Section "Head exchange: RV head 1, RV head
2" and software description LRU V 502.xx.
Å In the event the option MTC was installed during the upgrading process:
Configure nozzle changer of MTC -> "Instructions for Retrofitting MTC on S-25 HM" (Item
no. see: Section 2.7).
Å Check the configuration of the conveyor, the cameras, etc.
6. Adjusting the dynamics (see: Section 2.11)
Å After exchanging heads / installing a 6-segment revolver head, modular:
Adjust dynamics (balancing Z-axis and dp-axis) -> see: "Setting Instructions", Item no.
00192192-02.
7. Calibrating after installing RV6 head (see: Section 2.12 and Section 2.13)
Å Placement heads and cameras -> see Section "Exchanging Heads: RV head 1, RV head
2", Software Guide SITEST V 502.xx.
Å Nozzle changer for 6-segment head, modular.
Å Exit SITEST -> Restart the machine.
Å PCB and RV mapping (see: Software Guide SITEST V 502.xx).
Å Precision calibration (see: Software Guide SITEST V 502.xx).
8. Installing SW V502.01 on the line computer (see: Section 2.14)
Å Requirements and procedure -> see: Software version description LRU V 502.xx.
9. Definition of the new station type (define station as S25), configuration of RV6-DLM1
head and nozzle changer RV6 Standard at the line computer (see: Section 2.15) and op-
tions, examining the configuration as a whole.

2.4 Safety Instructions 07/01 Issue

2.4 Safety Instructions
DANGER
Only the Siemens Dematic service engineer is permitted to upgrade the S-23 HM machine to
S-25 HM (platform 2).
This is done by executing all the steps described below.
The Safety instructions in chapter "Operational Safety" in the User Manual and in the Service
Manual S-23 HM and/or S-25 HM take precedence.
The machines SIPLACE S-23 HM / S-25 HM are powered by
120V / 208V +/- 5% (US version) or 3 x 230V/400V +/-5%, 50/ 60 Hz line voltage.
Portions of the system are therefore conducting dangerous electricity, inside the machine and in-
side the MTC, even while the master switch is turned off.
After you have properly carried out the shut-down of the Windows operating system NT:
BEFORE all work of retrofitting the machine must be turned OFF at the main switch and isolated
from the mains. In addition, the compressed air supply must be turned off at the main valve of the
compressed air unit in the machine base and the compressed air lines must be bled by actuating
the needle valve at the compressed air unit (particularly due to the risk of injury - posed by residual
air - at the pneumatic cutter after undocking/removing the component changeover table).
Obey the applicable accident prevention regulations, DIN standards and special safety codes of
your country at all times. DIN EN 60204 must be adhered to during all work inside the machine
base.
Follow the instructions regarding residual voltages in Chapter "Operational Safety".
Comply with regulations on ESDs (see Chapter "Operational Safety")
While installing the option RV6 -DLM1 head you are working in the gantry positioning range.
During the whole upgrade process secure the machine conscientiously against other personnel
and prevent it from being turned back on without authorization, as described in the User Manual
in the chapter "Locking the Machine...".
In additional, there is a higher risk of accident when working with the SITEST program.
The SITEST program is only to be started by personnel who are authorized to do so.
For the work with the SITEST program the component changeover table and the MTC (incl. com-
ponent table) must be moved in and correctly connected. 2
