2.3 Benefits of SiCluster Multiline
Benefits of SiCluster Multiline
SiCluster Multiline offers the following benefits:
▪ Even utilization of lines.
▪ Minimum overall production time across all lines.
▪ Lower number of different components across all lines.
▪ An improved initial situation for calculating constant tables (with SiCluster Professional).
▪ A reduced number of required setups and hence a reduced number of required feeders and tables.
▪ More boards in the family setup / fixed setup and thus fewer changeovers.
▪ Less manual planning required by the production planner.
▪ The quality of the planning results depends less on the experience of the production planner.

2.4 What Does SiCluster Multiline Do?
What Does SiCluster Multiline Do?
▪ SiCluster Multiline calculates an allocation of recipes to lines with high component overlap across
the boards on the line.
▪ SiCluster Multiline distributes the recipes on the condition that the prescribed line production time is
not exceeded.
▪ SiCluster Multiline enables you to plan up to 1000 boards or 2000 board sides (top+bottom), for up
to 10 lines.
▪ SiCluster Multiline supports various different setup concepts for the lines at a factory at the same
time e.g. changeover tables.
▪ SiCluster Multiline uses existing constant tables in a line.
▪ SiCluster Multiline takes into account user-defined rules:
– Inclusive groups for recipes
– Exclusive groups for recipes
– Production of recipes on the same line
– Line exclusions and binding (defined by prohibited production of specific recipes on certain lines)
▪ SiCluster Multiline takes into account the process requirements for the products and the process ca-
pabilities of the lines.
▪ In an integrated process, SiCluster Multiline supports in-line cluster formation with SiCluster Profes-
sional and the optimization of result setups (cluster) with the SIPLACE Optimizer.

2.5 What Does SiCluster Multiline Not Do?
What Does SiCluster Multiline Not Do?
▪ SiCluster Multiline does not perform optimization or specify the order in which products are to be pro-
duced.
▪ It does not take into account the production dates or production sequence priorities.
▪ It does not include urgent production jobs in the plans for existing setups which were created with
previous plans.
2.6
2.6 The SiCluster Multiline Optimization Process
The SiCluster Multiline Optimization Process
The SiCluster Multiline optimization process consists of three steps:
1. SiCluster Multiline creates an optimized list of allocated production jobs for each production line.
2. The results of this line allocation are used by SiCluster Professional on each line, for the clustering
of family setups.
3. In the last step, the grouped setups and recipes are optimized with the SIPLACE optimizer.
NOTICE
SiCluster Multiline is an important, high-performance extension to the existing setup planning
and optimization tools. However, SiCluster Multiline does not replace either of these tools.
