Step 5 Lubricate the cutter blades.
Apply a thin layer of grease (NSL) to the upper surface of the two blades with a brush, and
apply AZ turbine oil (Syringe oil) to the edge of the blade. Drop a small portion of turbine oil on
the blade and spread it with a brush.
Warning:
NEVER apply grease on the tape cutter with your fingers. Serious injury may result.

Step 6 Remove excess grease from the cutter unit.
Warning:
Wiping grease off the blade by hands is very hazardous. To avoid injury, fold cleaning cloth to make it
thick and use it for wiping grease off the blade so that your fingers won’t touch the blade directly.
Step 7 Check the movement of the tape cutter.
Insert a screw into a tapped hole of the plate in front of the blade. Move the screw to and fro to
move the cutter unit and check if the blades move smoothly.

3.5.2 Tape cutter for the fixed feeder bank with 24 feeder positions
Step 1 Clean the tape cutter before lubricating it.
Linear guide bearing and the linear guide rail
Although the cleanable areas are limited, remove old grease with a scraper and then clean the
area with cloths.
Cutter blades
Warning:
Be sure to wear cut-resistant leather gloves when cleaning the cutter blade. Otherwise you may get
injured.
Dip a used toothbrush or a brush in isopropyl alcohol and clean the cutter blade. Scrape off
the sticky dirt with a scraper. Then wipe the blade with cloths or cleaning paper soaked with
isopropyl alcohol.
Area around the tape cutter
Remove the dust or fallen objects such as components with a vacuum cleaner.
Step 2 Check the condition of the cutter blades.
Check the cutter blades for chipping, wear and loosening of the fixing screws.
Note:
Should there be any problem, blade replacement is required. If you have a spare blade set,
replace the blades. If not, explain the situation to the customer and be sure to replace the
blades soon.
Step 3 Check the clearance between the cutter blades.
Measure the clearance between the blades of the tape cutter (for the fixed feeder bank with
60/ 24/ 14 feeder positions) to see if it is appropriate. Make a note of the measured result on
the Check sheet.
Tip:
If the blade-to-blade clearances are improper, faulty conditions including premature blade
wear, inability to cut waste tapes, tape jamming or other may result. In this case, check and
adjust the installation condition of the blades. See “SI1109005E = YS machine tape cutter
blade replacement” for the details.
