5.6 Troubleshooting 10/99 edition

5.6 Troubleshooting
5.6.1 Loss of pressure from an air cushion
– Floor not airtight:
Cover the floor with metal sheets or adhesive tape
– Pressure too low when moving over the edge of a metal sheet:
Increase the pressure and/or stick down the edges with adhesive tape.
– Leak from the rubber bellows:
Replace the rubber bellows and send the old one for repair.
5.6.2 Loss of pressure from all the air cushions
: Check the pressure reading on the input manometer:
– If it is less than 5 bar:
Wait until sufficient pressure has built up or
connect a larger air line or
a larger compressed air unit.
– If it is more than 5 bar:
Adjust all the pressure regulators (= increase the pressure in the air cushion)
WARNING 5
: The operating pressure must never exceed the values shown in Tab. 6.1 - 1 and 6.3 - 1.
5
5.6.3 The load rocks:
: Close the main ball cock on the control unit. Then slowly open the main ball cock again until
the pressure has built up once more.

Explanatory notes:
1) Pressure in the air cushion module under full load. Conversion: 100 kPa = 1 bar
2) The air consumption is partly dependent on:
the actual load on the air cushion module and
the condition of the floor
3) Lift height (±5 mm) when fully laden
4) Supporting surface when the air cushion module is lowered
5) Cast aluminum / profiled aluminum supporting plate
6.2 Air cushion module options
– Air cushion modules with larger or smaller lift
– Air cushion modules with protective polyurethane lining
– Air cushion on a stainless steel plate for the offshore and chemical industries
– Air cushion modules for theatres and multi-purpose halls
