3.1.2. Removal of foreign matter on the sprocket and locker areas
If a component (chip) is held between the gear teeth due to transfer error or pickup error
of the component placer while components are supplied, pitch error or component supply
problems may result. Therefore, check for foreign matter whenever replacing the tape and
remove it. Especially for 0603 feeders, the check should be carried out with care because
the supplied chip is too small to be found easily by vision. If chips are accumulated
around the rocker, the supply rate may be affected. Therefore, eliminate the chips or
other foreign matter periodically by dismantling the rocker after removing the pins.

3.2. Troubleshooting
3.2.1. Defective component supply
Any defective in the component supply, such as the tombstone and flipping of the
component, separation from the tape, etc. is generally caused by irregularities in the
shutter area.
Deformation of the shutter
After the tape has been mounted, the proper height between the component (chip) and the
shutter is about 0.2mm. But if the height is too far away from this value, the component
(chip) does not get pressed properly when the shutter moves backward, and it causes
defective component supply.
Also, if the height of the shutter is too low and the shutter scratches the component when
it moves backward (without mounting the tape, move the pusher lever several times. If
severe scratch marks are left on the buck-up by the shutter), defective component supply
occurs.
> In general, solve this problem by changing to subassembly state where the shutter is

assembled into the tape guide.
Bad lubrication around the shutter area
This condition occurs when the shutter and the tape guide is not fully lubricated (if the
frictional force is felt when the shutter is moved back and forth manually).
> Solve this problem by applying the lubricant between the shutter and the tape guide. If
the problem persists even after the application of the lubricant, change to subassembly
state where the shutter is assembled into the tape guide.
Foreign material on the sprocket area
This condition occurs when the components that have come off because of bad transport
around the sprocket and ratchet area are remaining.
> Check for and remove them.
3.2.2. Pitch error
When the component is not transported to the pickup point as set by the pitch.
When the ratchet does not rotate the number of times as set
Owing to bad adjustment of the pusher lever and pitch pawl, the operation is not carried
out properly (in general, this occurs very rarely).
> Adjust the eccentricity pin.
When the Sprocket rotate beyond the number of times as set
When the force of removing the vinyl is excessive and the sprocket rotates more than the
set number
> Adjust the position of the rewind spring to (-) direction.
When the carrier tape does not exit properly
This condition occurs when the carrier tape that has completed the chip supply gets stuck
in the locker and does not exit properly (especially for the case of using embossing tape).
> Open the tape guide and the locker and reset the tape.
