Coplanarity measurement is not carried out at the placement angle. The component is
presented to the coplanarity laser at 0°.
- Coplanarity measurement impairs placement performance.
5.28 Dip module
Dip modules are supported in version 505.xx of the software. A separate "Dip modules" view is
available in which the functions required to control the modules which have been set up can be
performed. Dip modules are set up on the component table in the same way as feeders. A maximum
of one dip module can be set up at each location.
A rotating dish is mounted on the dip module. This dish contains flux or conductive adhesive. To
improve the soldering ability of corrosive components or components with complex structures, for
instance, such components are dipped in flux or conductive adhesive before placement. They are
then pressed on to their placement position for the time specified in the programming system.
By rotating the dish and using a squeegee positioned over this dish, it is possible to ensure that the
medium has the smoothest possible surface before a component is immersed.
Currently, it is primarily flip chips with dimensions up to 10 x 10 mm which are dipped.
5.28.1 Restrictions
- GEM and traceability are not supported.
- Coplanarity measurement is not possible in conjunction with dipping.
- Placement performance is impaired by dipping.
- Support is only available for dip modules with circular dishes.
- The hardware of the dip module itself does not report any errors, i.e. the software cannot detect
whether a dip module is connected or whether the dish was successfully rotated or not.
- No production data is captured when dipping components.
- The use of feeder cover plates is not possible with dip modules.

5.29 Component reject conveyor
Component reject conveyors are supported in version 505.xx of the software. A separate
"Component reject conveyors" view is available in which the functions needed to control the
modules which have been set up can be performed. The total number of component reject
conveyors per placement machine is restricted to one module per placement head.
The component reject conveyor is in principle a 44 mm feeder that operates in reverse. Empty
pockets are moved from a roll to the "set-down position". If a component for which disposal via the
component reject conveyor has been selected in the programming system must now be removed
from the nozzle as a result of an error, it is placed into a pocket on the tape of the component reject
conveyor. The following pocket sizes are possible:
- 30 mm x 30 mm (feeder step interval: 2 s)
- 30 mm x 15 mm (feeder step interval: 1 s)
5.29.1 Restrictions
- If more than one component reject conveyor is fitted, it is not possible to optimize the placement
sequence.
- If the machine is rebooted, the data for the number of rejected components and the number of
components placed is lost.
5.30 Flexible feeder interface FFI
The FFI (Flexible Feeder Interface) is intended to allow simple, flexible connection of a wide variety
of different feeders from a range of manufacturers to the SIPLACE placement machines. To allow
this, the feeder vendors must have adhered to the FFI specification.
As a result of the high demands and restrictions, in SIPLACE Pro 2.0 it is only currently possible to
implement basic support for the various feeder types (DDF2 and TrayStack are hardwired).

5.31 Fault-tolerant run-up of the subsystems
Using station software 505.02 the station runs up in the fault-tolerant mode and can change without
any problems to SITEST (Please log in as service technician and choose the stand alone mode). In
SITEST you could do troubleshooting easily and quickly by installing new firmware on the
subsystems. Very often errors are due to non available or wrong firmware of the subsystems (like
axis, head, conveyer, tape cutter) or due to data inconsistencies.
5.32 Wide conveyor for the HS-60
The "wide conveyor" function is enhanced as of Version 503.03 of the station software. Now the HS-
60 machine type can use its maximum conveyor width. This feature should be viewed as a machine
option. Conversion instructions are available for converting the machine (for changing the machine's
zero point and carrying out the required conversion work on the conveyor).
