Setting the Operation Mode
The machine operation mode must be set to "Production" in order to place
parts on a panel.
<Explanation of operation mode>
Production: This is the mode used for regular production.
Idle: The idle modes must only be used when there
are no parts loaded in the device slots
employed in the production program. The
idle modes are used for warning up the
machine and are not used for production.
Idle operation with loading: The loading and unloading of panels has been
added to the standard idle operation mode.
Operation must be performed without parts
being loaded to the device slot specified by
the program.
Idle operation without pickup: Operates in the same manner as the standard
idle mode except that pickup is not
performed.
Pass: Pass mode is used when the machine is not
used in current production. In pass mode the
machine simply acts as a conveyor, moving
the panel on to the next machine in the line.
Procedure
1. From the [Main] screen select [Operation] to display the
[Operation] screen.
2. Among three modes; [Prodution], [Idle], [Pass], set the operation
mode to [Production].
3. Press [Close] to return to the [Main] screen.

Preparing for Production Data Transmission
The operating status of the machine during production is saved in files referred
to as production logs. This production data is managed at the host computer.
Set the machine to the transmission mode so that the production data can be
sent to the host computer.
Procedure
1. Select [HOST] from the [Main] screen.
2. Select [ON] from the [Communication Status] section.
3. Select [Online] from the [Control Status] section.
4. Select [Remote].
5. Press [Close] to return to the [Main] screen.
Note: When the CP-842E/842ME starts up, the machine settings are as described
above. Usually it is not necessary to input these settings.

Setting Error Processing
Set the operation to be used for re-attempting part placement (referred to as
recovery) after something such as a vision processing error has occurred soft
return during the placement of a part. Normally this is set to auto recorvery.
<Explanation of error handling modes>
Auto Recovery: After an error has occurred, the recovery operation is
attempted up to the number of attempts specified at
[Recovery Limit]. The machine stops if the part is not
successfully placed within the specified limit. Recovery
is attempted after the machine is restarted.
Error Stop: If an error occurs the machine stops immediately
without performing recovery operation. Recovery is
attempted after the machine is restarted.
Error Pass: Recovery is not carried out even if an error occurs.
Operation is completed with the part in question left
unplaced and the panel is unloaded to the next machine
in the line. This is not used in normal production.
Procedure
1. Select [Recovery] from the [Main] screen.
2. Select the error handling mode from among the following
choices; [Auto Recovery], [Error Stop], and [Error Pass].
Note: When selecting the “Auto Recovery” mode, the “Recovery Reference”
and “Recovery Limit” settings (see below) must also be specified at that
time.
3. Press [Close] to return to the [Main] screen.
