Formatting
or
erasing
of a streaming tape
NOTE
Streaming tapes need not
be formatted before they are used. Therefore, instead of initiating a
formatting process the erasing process is activated for the entire content of the tape when the
command
Format
is activated.
Insert the streamer cartridge holding the data to be erased into the streamer drive.
Click on
Format
button next to the name of the streamer drive.
Next to the drive name the display "initializing in process" appears during the entire erasing
procedure.
When the erasing procedure is terminated, a dialog box containing a corresponding message is
displayed.
Confirm dialog box with
Ok
.

Terminating
the Print and Update Server
Click on
Quit
button.
The main window of the print and update server is closed.
NOTE
For as long as a formatting or erasing procedure is still active, the user interface of the print or update
server cannot be exited.

4.5 File Display User Interface
The user interface enables the operator to view the contents of different types of files. The following types of
files can be selected from:
-
Error files (.error)
-
Log files (.log)
-
Line configuration lists (.mf)
4.5.1 Starting the File Display
The operator can start the File Display function either via the menu "FILE" on the desktop menu bar, or via Data
Manager by selecting a data partner (Job data, Master data).
Moreover, the File Display can be opened for viewing given error files, via the menus of the "Job Control" (see
chapter 14) and "Optimization Dialog" (see chapter 11) application programs.
Starting the File Display option via the Data Manager, with an error file in the "Job data/Losplanung"
directory serving as an example:
Click on FILE -> Data Manager on the desktop menu bar.
The main window of the Data Manager is opened (see Fig. 4.3.1).
Select icon (or text) Job data by double-clicking.
The main window of the data partner "Job Data" is opened (see section 4.3).
Activate Default button in the command area of the main window.
Successively select Losplanung, xx.lose by double-clicking.
Select .error file (if available) by double-clicking.
The main window of the File Display containing the contents of the error file ".error" is opened.
Starting the File Display option via the Data Manager, with the line configuration list for the overall line
serving as an example:
Click on FILE -> Data Manager on the desktop menu bar.
The main window of the Data Manager is opened (see Fig. 4.3.1).
Select icon (or text) Master data by double-clicking.
The main window of the "Master data" is opened (see Fig. 4.3.2).
Activate Default button in the command area of the main window.
Successively select Anlagen, SMT.ak, .ra and .mf by double-clicking.
The main window of the File Display containing the contents of the line configuration list ".mf"
is opened (see Fig. 4.5.2).
