3. Handling Precautions
To maintain the performance characteristics of the machine you purchased, note the following point when
using the parts feeders.

Air-blow positions when exchanging parts (tape reel)
Be sure to blow air to the following positions before exchanging parts.
• Sprocket assembly part (Figure 1 below)
Blow air to the entire part.
• Empty tape feed groove (Figure 2 below)
Blow air in the directions of the arrows.
• Inside top tape box of the top tape winding gear (Figure 3 below)
Blow air in the direction of the arrow.

CAUTION
If a tape-and-reel packing is set with a component still remained in the tape guide assembly, etc., the carrier tape or
the top tape will be caught in the feeder, causing component feeding errors. Take care or pickup error may be caused.

Precautions for setting the feeder
· Before setting the feeder, be sure to remove foreign matter (part, etc.) on the feeder plate upper surface.

CAUTION
· If the tape feeder is set with foreign matter on the feeder plate, lower surface of the feeder will be damaged. Take
care or malfunction of the feeder such as pickup error may be caused.
· Use a dustpan or the like when cleaning the upper feeder plate so that wiped foreign matter would not fall on the
lower section.
· Take care not to let wiped foreign matter be caught in the connector part when cleaning the lower feeder plate.

Cautions after installing the feeder
· Don’t push the installed feeder rightward or leftward.

CAUTION
Be careful not to push the feeder set on the feeder plate rightward or leftward, or pickup error may be caused.

Handling the tail cover
· An edge cutter (with a sharp blade) is installed on the tail cover for cutting used top tape. If the tail cover should be
damaged somehow, the blade may be exposed. Pay attention when handling the tail cover or injury may be caused.
