1.2 Nozzle cleaning
The following describes how to clean and lubricate the Type 30X Group nozzles. Also, clean and lubricate the
Type31X Group nozzles in the same manner.
1.2.1 Cleaning and lubricating nozzle slide section
e
1
Remove nozzles.
1. Press the emergency stop button and
then open the machine safety cover.
2. Remove nozzles from the head. If the
machine is equipped with the nozzle
station, press the [Nozzle. Stn Shutter]
button to open the nozzle station shutter
and remove nozzles.
2
Clean the slide section.
Apply absolute ethanol to the slide section.
Push the nozzle tip several times to repeat
the buffing action (spring action) to clean
the slide section. After cleaning, blow the air
to remove absolute ethanol.
3
Lubricate the slide section.
Using a precision screwdriver or similar tool
with a pointed tip, apply a small amount of
turbine oil (just enough so that it sinks in) to
the slide section.
4
Check the buffing action (spring
action).
Push the nozzle tip several times to repeat
the buffing action and spread the turbine
oil. Use a lint-free cloth to wipe away excess
oil remaining around the nozzle.
5
Remove excess oil remaining in the
nozzle.
Air blow with the air blow tool for
approximately 5 seconds from the nozzle tip
side, and approximately 5 seconds from the
nozzle mounting side. Repeat this process a
few times to remove excess turbine oil
remaining in the nozzle.
n
NOTE
A thin coat of oil is enough to lubricate the slide section.
6
Check that the oil was removed.
Blow air through the nozzle again while
placing commercially-available oil blotting
paper over the opposite end of the nozzle,
and check for residual oil in the nozzle.
n
NOTE
Performing step 5 is usually sufficient to remove oil
remaining in the nozzle. However, if oil still remains, blow
air through the nozzle once again.
7
Return the nozzle to its original
position.
After verifying again that the nozzle is free of
oil, return the nozzle to its original position
(head or nozzle station).

Step 6
Oil will appear after blowing air (first time) for
about 5 seconds from the nozzle tip.
Repeat the air blow for about 5 seconds
each from the nozzle tip and from the
attachment side.
This task is finished when oil no
longer appears.

1.2.2 Cleaning nozzle air path
e
1
Remove nozzles.
1. Press the emergency stop button and
then open the machine safety cover.
2. Remove nozzles from the head. If the
machine is equipped with the nozzle
station, press the [Nozzle. Stn Shutter]
button to open the nozzle station shutter
and remove nozzles.
2
Blow air through the nozzle.
1. Detach the nozzle tip and air blow the
nozzle from the nozzle attachment side.
2. Attach the nozzle tip and air blow the
nozzle from the nozzle attachment side.
c
CAUTION
Be careful not to deform the clip.
n
NOTE
If there are dust deposits in the nozzle, perform steps 3
and 4.
3
Clean the nozzle hole.
1. Pass a nozzle cleaning wire through the
nozzle hole.
2. Clean the nozzle by moving it as shown
in the figure on the right.
4
Blow air onto the nozzle tip again.
Remove the nozzle cleaning wire, then
air-blow the nozzle interior with the air blow
tool as described in Step 2.
5
Return removed nozzles to the
head.
n
NOTE
If removed nozzles from the nozzle station (option),
return them to the original storage positions.

1.2.3 Cleaning nozzle tip
A little dirt at the nozzle tip can be cleaned with the "Nozzle tip cleaning tape" that comes with the machine.
If cleaning the nozzle with an ultrasonic cleaner (option) and then cleaning with the nozzle tip cleaning tape,
the nozzle tip can be cleaned effectively.
The following describes the cleaning procedure of the spring-action nozzle tip with an ultrasonic cleaner and
the nozzle tip cleaning tape.
c
CAUTION
When cleaning the nozzle tip, use YAMAHA recommended cleaning tape (TAPE,CLEANER:KGT-M8895-00X) only.
If using other tape, the adhesive surface may adhere to the nozzle and may cause the mounting failure.
n
NOTE
See the Service Information that comes with the tape for how to use the cleaning tape.
e
1
Remove nozzles.
1. Press the emergency stop button and
then open the machine safety cover.
2. Remove nozzles from the head. If the
machine is equipped with the nozzle
station, press the [Nozzle. Stn Shutter]
button to open the nozzle station shutter
and remove nozzles.
2
Clean the slide section.
If dust is in the slide section, remove it with
an air blow tool (option), etc.
3
Clean nozzles with an ultrasonic
cleaner.
1. Put nozzles into a container (such as
beaker) in an ultrasonic cleaner.
2. Pour ethanol in a container until nozzles
are dipped.
3. Pour water in an ultrasonic cleaner.
4. Clean nozzles with an ultrasonic cleaner
for about 10 minutes.
c
CAUTION
DO NOT pour ethanol directly into the ultrasonic
cleaner. It must be poured in a beaker or similar
container.
n
NOTE
When cleaning a nozzle with an O-ring such as Type
304A or Type 307A nozzle using an ultrasonic cleaner,
remove an O-ring and clean a nozzle itself only.
4
Blow nozzles.
1. Take nozzles out from an ultrasonic
cleaner.
2. Blow entire nozzle to remove ethanol.
Intensively blow the slide section and the
air path.
