1 Introduction
1.1 Overview
The Forte MAX Dispensing System supports both dual simultaneous and dual-action dispensing with
extended Z-travel and real time correction. Dual simultaneous dispensing supports the use of two
identical applicators to simultaneously dispense fluid at two locations. Dual-action (also referred to as
dual toggle) dispensing enables the dispensing of two fluids with two applicators (same or different types)
that operate independently. In addition, single valve dispense and dual valve dispense can be used within
the same dispense instruction.
This manual is intended for recipe programmers and service personnel familiar with the Canvas
dispensing software and the Forte Series Dispensing System. This section contains the following topics:
Recommended Applications
System Requirements
Specifications
1.2 Safety First
Operation of the dispensing system involves heat, air pressure, electrical power, mechanical devices, and
the use of hazardous materials. It is essential that every person servicing or operating the dispensing
system fully understands all hazards, risks, and safety precautions. Refer to Section 2 – Safety in this
manual and to the Forte Dispensing System Installation, Operations, and Maintenance Manual for
important safety information.
1.3 Recommended Applications
The Forte MAX targets the following applications:
Sealant
Encapsulation
Precise coating
Dual simultaneous dispensing is ideal for applications with multi-up, panelized, or patterned parts with
consistent spacing. Dual-action dispensing is ideal for applications requiring two different materials,
high-mix production, and process development work. Table 1-1 outlines the features and requirements for
both dual dispensing options.
Table 1-1 Dual Simultaneous vs. Dual-Action Dispensing
Features Dual Simultaneous Dual-Action
Auto adjusts for part skew (up to ± 2.5 mm of X and Y travel) Yes Yes*
Dispensing with two different applicator types No Yes
Simultaneous dispensing with two identical applicators Yes No
Dispensing with two different materials No Yes
*Dual-action can compensate for part rotation > 2.5mm. It relies on the primary Z-head to and not on the Forte MAX bracket.
