6-8-2. Greasing the Z1-axis
Procedures for greasing the Z1-axis
WARNING
When you perform the procedure set forth in this section, you have to
place your hands in a drive section. If you perform maintenance with
the power ON, your fingers or hands may be caught or cut off.
Turn OFF the machine and shut off the facility power supply before
starting this procedure.
Also, ensure that no other person touches the machine during
lubricating.

With a lint-free cloth, wipe off the dirty grease on the rails and
ball-bearing leadscrew of the Z1-axis linear guide.

Insert the grease gun into the grease nipples of the Z1-axis and
inject grease. Note that there are three grease nipples.

With a lint-free cloth, wipe off any grease that protrudes from the
slider.

Reinstall the partition (left).

Procedures for preparation of greasing the Z2-axis
CAUTION
When you move the Z1- or Z2-axis to its down end, the spindle might
strike the chuck table. This would damage the chuck table and cause
galling of the spindle axis.
Before moving the Z1- and Z2-axis to its down end by using the AXIS
OPERATION screen [screen 7.2], make sure that there is no chuck
table under the spindle.

Turn ON the facility power source.

Open the circuit breaker lever lockout and then turn ON the
circuit breaker.

Insert the key into the main switch and then turn ON the main
switch.

Press the <System Initial> button to effect system initialization.

On the AXIS OPERATION screen, move the Y2-axis to its rear
end.
6
On the AXIS OPERATION screen, move the Z2-axis to its down
end.

Turn OFF the main switch and remove the key.

Turn OFF the circuit breaker on the left of the machine. Lock out
the circuit breaker lever with a padlock or the like.

Shut off the facility power supply.

Remove the partition (left). Then store it sufficiently away from
the working area.
