7.7.2 Fault Location: Control / Functioning of the Compressed Air
Supply Module
NOTE
Error message No. 43 can point to a fault in the compressed air feeder module (= feeder module conveying
using compressed air), in the components table pneumatic system or in the components table compressed air
supply.
Start fault location by referring to the section 7.2 "Fault Characteristics".
Check on the basis of the fault situation - that is, when error No. 43 is displayed - whether the output signal is
present at the corresponding connection socket of the communications unit (= interface of the components
table and the components modules) or whether there is a fault in the module (for example, solenoid valves,
compressed air cylinder defective, electrical interruption in the module).
●
There are 2 possibilities for fault location:
–
Checking the module by connecting it to the (new) external power supply - if the customer has this, or
–
Using the location tester to test at the connection socket of the communications unit.

7.7.2.1 Checking with the External Power Supply
●
Make sure that the clamping clips (see Fig. 7.7.2) of the compressed air supply module which is not
transporting correctly is properly closed and the module thus being pressed correctly against the sup-
port strip.
●
Pull out the plug of the problematic compressed air supply module from the connections panel of the
communications unit. The module remains in place at the components table, the machine switched
on, the compressed air at the feeder module is on.
●
Connect the module to the external power supply using the 30 VDC socket.
●
Give the control signal for switching the solenoid valves (in the module) at the corresponding push-
button of the external power supply.
–
If the module now conveys properly (= solenoid valve in the module switches), continue location
of the electrical interruption in the communications unit (see the section 7.5 "Communications
Unit").
–
If the module does not now convey, carry out fault correction in the module as described in the
service manual for this module.
7.7.2.2 Testing with the Location Tester:
NOTE:
For a more precise check of locations 1 or 3, or of a particular track, use the SITEST program. Select for
example "BE table"
→
"Single function"
→
"Adr. or track "
→
"Output" and check the outputs at the location
tester which is connected (see text which follows) or test the entire location (tracks 1 to 120) by selecting "BE
table"
→
"Continuous loop CL"
→
"Output".
DANGER
OOO
The SITEST program may only be used by authorized persons who have been specially trained in its use at
Siemens AG (please observe the DANGER notes section 7.6.2 on page 7 - 34).
●
Pull the plug of the compressed air feed module which is not conveying out of the connection socket of the
communications unit. The module remains in place at the components table.
●
Connect the location tester to the connection socket of the communications unit which is now becoming
free. For detailed information on using the location tester, please refer to the section 7.5 "Communications
Unit".
●
You must now create the fault once again in order to set the output signal for the feed module.
●
The assumption here is that when the "Track empty" error message is displayed, the track is not actually
empty but that there is a pick-up error.
●
When the "Track empty" error message is displayed select: Component feed
→
Fill all (setter password)
→
Return. The corresponding track errors will be deleted.
●
Position the location tester so that you can read it easily. Start the placement sequence and by doing so
generate once more error No. 43. At the same time check the "A1" LED on the location tester:
