0.1 General Comments
This service manual is a handbook and reference work for the maintenance and repair of SIPLACE 80S/F and
G placement machines. Many functions are identical for the two machines and will be described here taking
the SIPLACE 80S machine as basis. In other words, functions which are described for the SIPLACE 80S
machine will also apply to the SIPLACE 80F and G machines. When functions and so on differ for the
SIPLACE 80F or G this will be pointed out expressly in the corresponding sections of this service manual.
0.1.1 About the Service Manual
At the present moment in time this service manual does not yet cover all of the functions of the machine. How-
ever the service manual is being constantly updated and added to. In this connection please refer to the notes
on additions to be found in the documentation list which is sent with the Product Info.
WARNING
OO
Unless you have a detailed knowledge of the corresponding parts of the service manual do not carry out any
repair or maintenance work on the machine.
Only appropriately trained and qualified personnel should carry out servicing work on the machine.
Do not fail to read and comply with all WARNING, CAUTION and DANGER notes, especially the safety
instructions in Section 1 and separate notes in other sections.
NOTE
We should like to point out that the contents of this service manual do not form part of any previous or existing
agreement, commitment or legal relationship nor alters such. All obligations on the part of Siemens AG derive
from the sale contract in question which also contains complete and generally applicable warranties. These
contractual warranty conditions will neither be extended nor restricted by the information in this service man-
ual.

0.1.3 About the SIPLACE 80S Placement Machine
The SIPLACE 80S placement machine is a modularly designed high-performance placement system with
double gantry axes and two turret placement heads at each station. While one placement head picks up com-
ponents from the feeder modules, the other placement head inserts the components it has already picked up.
Vision systems for board position recognition and components centering also contribute to the high quality of
placement.
The line computer working with the UNIX operating system supplies the SIPLACE 80S machine with the data
it needs. It is also possible to link the machine via this line computer to a higher-level data processing system.
It is also possible to link the machine to input and output units, screen printing units and soldering ovens.
0.1.4 About the SIPLACE 80F
Placement Machine
The SIPLACE 80F placement machine is a modularly designed high-performance placement system with one
turret placement head and one IC head at the one gantry. First the components picked up by the turret head
are inserted and then the components picked up by the IC head.
Vision systems for board position recognition and components centering also contribute to the high quality of
placement.
The line computer working with the UNIX operating system supplies the SIPLACE 80F machine with the data
it needs. It is also possible to link the machine via this line computer to a higher-level data processing.
As an option, Wafflepack changers for furnishing components can also be installed.
It is also possible to link the machine to input and output units, screen printing units and soldering ovens.
0.1.5 The SIPLACE G Gluing Machine
The SIPLACE G operates with three adhesive application heads, two of which are used at the same time and
which apply glue simultaneously to the board.
The first gluing unit can be positioned in the y direction relative to the basic head with the aid of the additional
ky axis.
The second gluing unit can be positioned analogously in the x direction with the aid of the additional kx axis.
This design makes it possible for the two gluing units to be positioned independently of one another within the
preset limits and thus to operate simultaneously.
The third gluing unit is mounted on the main gantry. It is primarily used for placing particularly large glue spots
with the aid of a large glue nozzle or particularly small glue spots with the aid of a smaller nozzle.
