2.8 Handling of GT-12162 Magnetic Plate
In the 12 mm or 16 mm width tape feeder, the magnetic plate is attached to
stabilize the component pick-up condition.
The effect of the magnetism varies, depending on the component type, size, and
material.
Because in the magnetic plate the magnetic force is used to draw the component,
it is not available for any component made of non-magnetic material.
Also, for some components, the magnetism might have harmful effects on the
component characteristics or pick-up conditions.
Conrm the effect. If any adverse effect is found, remove the magnetic plate from
the chute section and remove it to the magnetic plate housing section. Then, use
the system.
Normally, the magnetic plate is housed in the magnetic plate housing section
and only in the case that the component can not be picked up easily, attach the
magnetic plate onto the chute section.
Note
For thin components, in most cases, the component pick-up rate is lowered. In
such case, use the magnetic plate.

2.8.1 How to attach the Magnetic Plate for 12 mm and 16 mm Width Tape
Procedure
(1) Take out the magnetic plate from the housing section.
Remove the set screw (countersunk head screw) using a precision screw
driver.
The removed set screw is used when the magnetic plate is attached to the
chute section.
(2) Take it out drawing it in the arrow direction.
(For housing)
When it is to be housed, use the reverse procedure. Press the magnetic plate
from above and deform it a little to house it in the housing section.

Magnetic Plate Set Hole and Installation Location
The magnetic plate and tape feeder have two set holes each.
The set hole to be used for 12 mm tape, is different from that for 16 mm tape.
