CAUTION O
In the case of SIPLACE machines with a dual conveyor (left-hand or right-hand conveyor side = stationary),
two
spacer washers 1 mm thick must be placed between the optional carrier and the sensor bracket per
fastening screw (see Fig. 12.6.8 -> 5. Item No.: see Section 12.6.2).
● Keeping the above NOTE in mind, mount the sensor bracket on the optional carrier
(four M6 x 20 screws: see Fig. 12.6.8 -> 4). Make certain that you do not pinch any cables.
● Reconnect the existing video and ribbon cable (= illumination control) to the flip-chip camera.
● Reinstall the cover over the flip-chip camera.
● Check that all cables have now been run and connected.
● Using a bubble level (accuracy = 0.4 mm/m) and a metal square, align the left-hand, vertical outside edge
of the sensor housing such that the sensor is exactly perpendicular to the IC head (Pick & Place head).
● While in this position, tighten the screws fastening the sensor.
No Loctite is applied to the screws (earlier module = applied).
● Assemble the machine as described in Section 12.6.14 "Final Steps".

12.6.8.1 Disassembly: Sensor Cable
CAUTION O
During disassembly and assembly of the control unit and all work inside the machine base, make certain that
you do not damage the cables or exert any strain on them.
Do not pull an existing cable harnesses and do not move them out of their position.
The sensor cable must be placed next to cable harness inside the machine base and fastened to it with cable
ties.
Precondition: The "Preparatory Steps" (Section 12.6.6) are completely finished.
● Disconnect the plug-in connection of the sensor cable on the "Coplanarity Processing Unit" (see Fig.
12.6.7 -> 7).
● Carefully push the sensor cable through the relief cut in the cover plate on the right into the control unit.
● Carefully remove the control unit. The cables must not be damaged.
● Undo the screws fastening the dust cover on the machine base, under the PCB conveyor module (three or
four washers and M4 sock-hex screws) and remove the dust cover.
● Disconnect the plug-in connection of the sensor cable on the sensor (see Fig. 12.6.8 -> 1, 7).

12 - 36
● Disconnect the 2 cable clips fastening the sensor cable to the sensor bracket (see Fig. 12.6.8 -> 9 and 10,
2 washers, two M4 x 8 socket-hex cap screws).
● Carefully loosen any cable ties along the length of the sensor cable.
● Fasten an insertion device for the new sensor cable to the top end of the old sensor cable.
● Beginning from the sensor, pull the devective "sensor cable coplanarity" (see Fig. 12.6.4 and Fig.
12.6.8) out in the direction of the control unit or pull it out carefully (!) toward the bottom along the follow-
ing route:
-> in through the hole in the sensor bracket (see Fig. 12.6.8 -> 2 and 6)
-> through the hole in the optional carrier for nozzle changers (Fig. 12.6.8-> 3 and 6)
-> downward into the inside of the machine
-> to the back of the control unit. Remove the faulty sensor cable.
12.6.8.2 Installation: Sensor Cable
● Very carefully thread the new sensor cable through (see NOTE, above).
● In the reverse order to disassembly (see above), thread the new "sensor cable coplanarity"
(Item No.: see Section 12.6.2) up through the inside of the machine base to the coplanarity sensor
(see Fig. 12.6.8 -> 7)
or
pull the sensor cable up as far as the sensor with the aid of the insertion aid.
● Run the sensor cable (together with the existing ribbon cable (illumination control) and the video cable)
from the inside out through the side hole in the sensor bracket (see Fig. 12.6.8-> 6, 7). The cables
must be routed in such a manner as to preclude any damage due, for example, to the sharp corners of the
sensor bracket. .
● Plug the sensor cable into the sensor (see Fig. 12.6.8).
● With the 2 cable clips (see Fig. 12.6.8 -> 9 and 10: two washers, two M 4 x 8 socket-hex cap screws) fas-
ten the sensor cable on the sensor bracket on the side facing the IC camera in such a manner that no
strain is exerted on the connector.
● Run the connector of the sensor cable out the front through the relief cut in the cover plate of the control
unit (see Fig. 12.6.7).
● Push the control unit in carefully. Do not damage the cables.
● Assemble the machine as described in Section 12.6.14 "Final Steps".
● The next step is to check the safety circuit (see Section 12.6.15).
([FKDQJLQJWKH&RSODQDULW\6HQVRU
● Carry out the "Preparatory Steps" (see Section 12.6.6) up to and including the dismantling of the compo-
nent table or move the component changeover table out of the machine. If a WPC is installed, move it out
of the machine.
● Undo the screws fastening the dust cover to the machine base, under the PCB conveyor module (three or
four washers and M4 socket-hex cap screws) and remove the dust cover.

Edition 09/99 12.6 Coplanarity Option
12 - 37
● Unplug the sensor cable connector from the coplanarity sensor (see Fig. 12.6.8 -> 1). If necessary,
remove the 2 cable clips on the sensor cable to do so (see Fig. 12.6.8 -> 9 and 10:
two washers, two M 4 x 8 socket-hex cap screws).
● Undo the screws fastening the coplanarity sensor to the sensor bracket (three M 4 x 8 socket-hex cap
screws: see Fig. 12.6.8 -> Pos. 8) and remove the sensor.
Attention: At least one of the 2 screws can be secured with Loctite, but has to be loosened anyway.
● Mount the new coplanarity sensor (Item No.: see Section 12.6.2) on the sensor bracket
(three M 4 x 3 socket-hex cap screws: see Fig. 12.6.8 -> Pos. 8).
Do not tighten the screws completely yet.
● Using a bubble level (accuracy = 0.4 mm/m) align the coplanarity sensor to the left-hand, vertical outside
edge of the sensor housing such that the sensor is exactly perpendicular to the IC-Head (Pick & Place
head).
If necessary, use a metal square to check that it is vertical.
● Screw the sensor down in the leveled position. New: Do not apply Loctite on the screws !
● Securely plug the sensor cable connector into the coplanarity sensor.
● If necessary, re-attach the 2 cable clips to the sensor cable (see Fig. 12.6.8 -> 9 and 10:
two washers, two M 4 x 8 socket-hex cap screws).
● Assemble the machine as described in Section 12.6.14 "Final Steps".
● The next step is to check the safety circuit (see Section 12.6.15) and the calibration of the coplanarity
option.

NOTE
If the dust cover installed is still a plastic one (= earlier model), this must be replaced by a metal one.
● Perform the die "Preparatory Steps" (see Section 12.6.6) up to and including the dismantling of the compo-
nent table or move the component changeover table out of the machine. If a WPC is installed, move it out
of the machine.
● Undo the screws fastening the dust cover to the machine base, under the PCB conveyor module (three or
four washers and M4 socket-hex cap screws, see Fig. 12.6.8 -> 15).
● Assemble the individual components of the metal dust cover (see Fig. 12.6.8 -> 15) in such a manner that
the free area of the conveyor trench has maximum coverage and, depending on the option installed, the
appropriate openings are available for flip-chip camera, coplanarity sensor (laser) with square, sensor
cable and sensor connector.
● Place the dust cover in the conveyor trench in so that it is resting on the pertinent contact surfaces of the
sensor bracket (see Fig. 12.6.8 -> 12).
● Screw the dust cover to the machine base (three or four washers and M 4 socket-hex screws: see Fig.
12.6.8 -> 15).
