14.1.1 Safety Instructions
DANGER O O O
During any work you perform, always comply with the higher ranking safety notes in Chapter 1 of this service
manual.
The machine has to be switched off and disconnected from the mains before you perform any work in the
area of the cutter. In addition, the compressed air supply must be turned off at the main valve of the com-
pressed air unit in the machine base.
Always secure the machine against unauthorized reactivation.
High risk of injury exists from stationary blade and movable blade of the cutter!
Never reach into the empty-tape duct from below or above.
Wear appropriate protective gloves whenever working near the blades (e.g., when moving the blades).
Make certain that no one can injury themselves on the cutter after it has been dismantled or on the blades
after they have been dismantled and are lying beside the machine.
The cutter is very heavy so a second, strong person must always be at hand when dismantling
(exchanging) it.
When dismantling the cutter, hold it only from above on the left and right, on the outside.
Never place the dismantled cutter on part of your body (e.g., on your knee or thigh) because, when dis-
mantled, the blade is exposed at the bottom (unprotected).
You could injury yourself severely or at least damage your clothing.
It is a basic rule that the SITEST program is only to be started by personnel trained in its use at. Siemens
AG and therefore authorized to start it.
When running the SITEST program, particularly when the changeover table is extended (and connected)
and the component table (beside the WPC) has been removed, additional, greater risk of accident exists
from the blades of the cutter.
The cutter must always be completely assembled to be used with the SITEST program.
When the test program is loaded, never place your hand in the vicinity of the cutter, neither from below nor
from above (via the empty-tape duct), not even to resolve a problem.
Exercise great care when setting the proximity switches and one-way restrictors.
When the SITEST program is running, you must always make certain that there is no
2nd person at the machine, i.e., that no 2nd person can trigger the cutting process or
is within the operating area of the cutter.
Secure the area of the cutter appropriately to keep away other personnel.
