Terms and Abbreviations
A 5
Availability % 5
The availability of a station is a value permitting an assessment of the "technical quality" of the
station and the placement/gluing process carried out thereon. Organizational or structure-re-
lated downtimes must not have any impact on the availability. The availability of a station is cal-
culated as follows: 5
Availability station [%] = 100 x (1 - (Tat / Tb)) 5
Tat = machine-related technical downtimes, e.g. unidentified reason, fiducial error, general ma-
chine malfunction, transport error, barcode reading error. 5
Tb = total operating time of the machine, or time basis for the evaluation period. 5
B 5
Blocked 5
Waiting until output conveyor/center conveyor is clear. 5
Build Time 5
Build time = End of board processing in the processing zone - Start of board processing in the
processing zone 5
C 5
Component Sum 5
Component Sum = (Sum placed Components + Sum errors) 5
CPH 5
Component per hour 5
CPH = (Component Sum / Evaluation Time) 5
D 5
Downtime 5
The sum of Scheduled and Unscheduled Downtime 5

F 5
Fault 5
Contains all shutdown causes that resulted from malfunctions within the machine. 5
For SIPLACE Placement systems this includes Track Error, Fiducial Error, Barcode Error,
Transport Error, Air Supply and General Machine Errors. 5
I 5
Identification Error % 5
Ident Error % = (Sum identification error / (Sum placed Components + Sum errors)) * 100 5
Interrupted 5
Contains all shutdown causes that resulted from operator intervention. 5
For SIPLACE Placement systems this includes Emergency Stop, Cover Open, Stop Button
Pressed, Step Mode, Key Switch, Single Functions, Vision Menus. 5
M 5
Manufacturing Time 5
The sum of Productive and Standby. The equipment is ready (Idle) or is producing. No techni-
cal blocking factor. Engineering Time is not included. 5
MTBA 5
A measure of reliability denoting the average time between assists to restore machinery/equip-
ment to Productive condition. It is displayed for each individual station within the production
line for the evaluation interval. The MTBA is calculated as follows: 5
MTBA = (Tb - Tat / number of downtimes due to faults) 5
Tb = total operating time of the machine, or time basis for the evaluation period. 5
Tat = machine-related technical downtimes, e.g. unidentified reason, fiducial error, general ma-
chine malfunction, transport error, barcode reading error. 5
MTTR 5
The average time required to eliminate a malfunction and return the machine to Productive
condition is referred to as MTTR (Mean Time To Repair). It is displayed for each individual sta-
tion within the production line for the evaluation interval. The MTTR is calculated as follows: 5
MTTR = (Tat / number of downtimes due to faults) 5
Tat = machine-related technical downtimes, e.g. unidentified reason, fiducial error, general ma-
chine malfunction, transport error, barcode reading error. 5

OEE 5
Overall Equipment Efficiency 5
OLE 5
Overall Line Efficiency 5
Operational Uptime % 5
The percentage of time that the equipment is technically available for engineering or manufac-
turing use during the scheduled (Operations) time. 5
Operations Time 5
The production line is staffed, for planned activity, whether the system is operational or not. The
Factory/Line is scheduled for activity. Unknown time is not included. 5
Other 5
Scheduled Downtime, Non-Scheduled Time. 5
P 5
PCB 5
Printed Circuit Board. 5
R 5
Running 5
The station is carrying out placement operations and performing position and ink spot recog-
nition. 5
S 5
SMA 5
Standard Monitoring Application 5
T 5
Takt Time 5
Takt time = time of completion of board 2 - time of completion of board 1 5
