1.2 Nozzle cleaning
This section describes the cleaning and lubrication procedure for Type 50X Series nozzles. Use the same
procedure for Type 51X, Type 60X Series, and Type 72X Series nozzles.
1.2.1 Cleaning and lubricating nozzle slide section
e
1
Detach nozzles.
1. Press the emergency stop button and
then open the machine safety cover.
2. Detach nozzles from the head. If the
machine is equipped with the nozzle
station, press the [Nozzle. Stn Shutter]
button to open the nozzle station shutter
and detach nozzles.
2
Clean the slide section.
Apply IPA (isopropyl alcohol) or ethanol to
the slide section. Push the nozzle tip several
times to repeat the spring action and clean
the slide section. After cleaning, blow
sufficient air to remove IPA or ethanol.
3
Lubricate the slide section.
Using a precision screwdriver or similar tool
with a pointed tip, apply a small amount of
turbine oil (just enough so that it sinks in) to
the slide section.

4
Check the nozzle spring action.
Press on the nozzle tip several times to
spread turbine oil. Use a lint-free cleaning
cloth to wipe away excess oil from around
the nozzle.
53303-N9-00
5
Remove excess oil remaining in the
nozzle.
Air blow with the air blow tool for about 5
seconds from the nozzle tip side, and about
5 seconds from the nozzle mounting side.
Repeat this process a few times to remove
excess turbine oil remaining in the nozzle.
n
NOTE
A thin coat of oil is enough to lubricate the slide section.
6
Check that the oil is removed.
Blow air through the nozzle again placing
commercially-available oil blotting paper
over the opposite end of the nozzle, and
check for residual oil in the nozzle.
n
NOTE
Performing step 5 is usually sufficient to remove oil
remaining in the nozzle. However, if oil still remains, blow
air through the nozzle once again.

7
Return nozzles to original
positions.
After checking again that no oil remains in
the nozzle, return the nozzle to the original
head/nozzle station.

Step 6
Oil will appear after blowing air (first time) for
about 5 seconds from the nozzle tip.
Repeat the air blow for about 5 seconds
each from the nozzle tip and from the
attachment side.
This task is finished when oil no
longer appears.

How to use the nozzle lubrication tool (for Type 50X Series nozzles)
When lubricating Type 50X Series nozzles used with this machine, it is easier to apply turbine oil to the nozzle
slide section with nozzle lubrication tool (hereafter “tool”). This tool is useful to lubricate the slide section
after cleaning the nozzle.

Relevant nozzles
Usable nozzles: 501A, 502A, 510A/500A, 511A, 512A, 513A
Unusable nozzles: 503A/514A, 506A/517A, 30X and 31X nozzles for YS series, etc.
1
Put the turbine oil in a tray.
Put the turbine oil (VG32) in an appropriate
tray so that its depth becomes approx. 1
mm.
2
Soak the tool tip in the turbine oil.
Soak the tool tip in the turbine oil and wipe
off the excess oil around the tip with a cloth.
c
CAUTION
Be sure to use a lint-free cleaning cloth.

3
Apply the oil to the nozzle.
1. Set the nozzle into the tool and press on
the nozzle tip only once.
2. Detach the nozzle from the tool and
press on the nozzle tip 4 to 5 times to
spread the oil.
53307-N9-00
n
NOTE
The oil can be applied to the nozzle slide section up to
about 8 times continuously.
c
CAUTION
Do this task with a clean finger so that any oil or dust
does not stick to the nozzle tip.

n
NOTE
The nozzle tip of Type 60X Series nozzles cannot be
detached.
c
CAUTION
When detaching the nozzle tip, be careful not to lose
the inner spring as it will come off.
n
NOTE
If there are dust deposits in the nozzle, perform steps 3
and 4 below.
3
Clean the nozzle hole.
1. Pass a nozzle cleaning wire through the
nozzle hole.
2. Clean the nozzle by moving it as shown
at right.

4
Blow air through the nozzle.
Remove the nozzle cleaning wire, and
air-blow the nozzle interior with the air blow
tool as described in Step 2.
5
Return detached nozzles to the
head.
n
NOTE
If detached nozzles from the nozzle station (option),
return them to the original storage positions.
