4. DESCRIPTION OF MAN-MACHINE SECTION
The control part of the machine is classified into two sections; man-machine
section (called MM), and machine control section (called MC). At the
man-machine section, the operator controls the machine to create the
production program, to manage the production status, to communicate with the
HLC, and so on.
On the other hand, at the man-machine control section, the production program
data is analyzed, and the XY unit, the head unit, and the carriage unit are
controlled. The machine control section also controls the READY IN/OUT
signals.
In this chapter, the operation at the man-machine section is explained. For the
explanation of the operation at the machine control section, see Chapter 5.
DESCRIPTION OF BOARD FUNCTIONS.
Arcnet communication
(Transmission/
Reception of data)
Machine control section (MC)
1) Control of the XY unit, the
HEAD unit, etc.
2) Control of the READY signal
between the upstream and
downstream units
Man-machine section (MM)
1) Creation of the
production program
2) Management of the
production status
3) Communication to the

MM: In this section, the
operator controls the machine.
MC: In this section, the COP
controls the machine.
4.1 Machine Configuration
A panel type computer is used for the man-machine section. The
man-machine CPU consists of an operation panel (LCD), a keyboard, an FDD,
an HDD, a printer interface, and an RS-232C interface. It also has two
expansion slots of ISA bus specification. As a standard configuration, one
Arcnet board is installed in this expansion slot. In the blank spare slot an
Arcnet board (for HLC option) is to be installed.
Specification of panel type computer:
MAIN CPU: AMD586 (133 MHz) (Equivalent to a 75-MHz Pentium)
MAIN MEMORY: 4 MB
10.4-in color LCD
2.5-in, 2HD floppy disk interface (1)
Enhanced IDE interface for HDD (1)
RS-232C interface for communication (2)
Centronics interface for printer (1)
Power supply: +5V and +12 V

4.2 Function of Man-Machine CPU
The following explains function of the man-machine CPU.
(1) Operating function for the operator to create and edit programs (keyboard
and FDD)
NOTE: The START/STOP/ONLINE/CYCLE/SERVO FREE/ORIGIN keys
and the HOD are controlled at the machine control section.
(2) Display function for production status and for teaching (LCD)
(3) Data storage function for production programs and MS parameters (HDD)
(4) Communication function with the machine control section (Arcnet board)
(5) Communication function with the HLC (An Arcnet board is to be additionally
installed.)
The functions of items (1) to (3) are almost the same as those of a personal
computer.
For the communication functions of items (4) and (5), the functions for both the
man-machine section and the machine control section are described.
Example of communication function of Arcnet:
A serial communication is used for the communication system of Arcnet, and its
bit rate is 2.5 Mbps.

Production data
① Production data
Mount data and pick data which are required for production to be run.
② Display data
Display data to be transferred to display mount positions, etc. during
production, XY coordinate, etc. during teaching operation, check (cancel)
data, and errors.
