3.9.4.1 Description
The Linear Dipping Unit X (Linear Dipping Unit X, item 1 in fig. 3.9 - 16) is used for coating Flip-
Chips and CSP components with flux. The flux container (item 3 in fig. 3.9 - 16
) slides with a linear
movement over the dip plate (item 2 in fig. 3.9 - 16
) and coats the cavity in the dip plate with a
layer of flux (predefined layer thickness). The parameters for coating a component with flux are
prescribed in SIPLACE Pro. The component is wetted and then the flux layer is renewed. This se-
quence guarantees consistent processing conditions for the components.
The display field (item 4 in fig. 3.9 - 16
, page 162) shows the individual menus for actions and op-
erating parameters. The buttons on the operator panel (item 5 in fig. 3.9 - 16
, page 162) allow you
to select menus, edit and save parameters. The 4 LEDs (item 6 in fig. 3.9 - 16
, page 162) on the
display field signal the status of the LDU-X. The EMERGENCY STOP button (item 7 in fig. 3.9 -
16, page 162) immediately switches the LDU-X off.
The LDU-X is suitable for use with the MultiStar and TwinStar. It is taken into account as an inde-
pendent feeder module type in the setup. This module can be set up on the component trolley of
the SIPLACE X-Series. An implemented warming function allows the viscosity of the flux to be al-
tered. For test purposes, the LDU-X can be operated outside the machine with the energy and
data interface for X feeder modules (see section 3.9.6
, page 169).

3.9.4.3 Restrictions
– The LDU-X must be manually configured in the setup.
– The LDU-X may only be set up on tracks 7 – 26.
– You can only configure one LDU-X per component trolley.
– Linear vibratory feeders may not be set up directly next to a LDU-X.
– MTC or WPC and LDU-X may only be set up in one placement area with one gantry.
– A gantry can only pick up from one LDU-X, even if it can pick up from two placement locations.

3.9.5 Feeder module adapter for the X-Series
Item no. 00141305-xx Adapter for X-Series feeder modules
Item no. 00141308-xx Adapter plate for reject conveyor
Item no. 00141310-xx Adapter plate for label presenter

The spectrum of X tape feeder modules has been extended to include the linear vibratory feeder,
the label presenter and the reject conveyor. With an adapter, you can also convert the S linear
vibratory feeder, label presenter and reject conveyor for use with X-Series component trolleys.
The adapter performs electronic as well as mechanical functions: It converts the communication
signals from the S feeder modules into signals conforming to the extended X-Series protocol. Ad-
ditional functions, such as feeder module identification, have also been implemented.
3
PLEASE NOTE
S linear vibratory feeders, label presenters and reject conveyors can not be set up at com-
ponent trolleys if these are in the access range of a SpeedStar (C&P20).
