Step 5
Check the length of the new belt which must be
4453 mm ± 2 mm
.
Push the belt over the upper pulley and down
inside the back of the Z axis until it does not go
furthe
r.
Step 6
For the next step it is required to have access to
the bottom pulley. Therefore, the whole Y axis
must be lifted and secured. Put a piece of wood
or steel below the axis to hold it securely into
place. Do not put force on the gripper itself.
Instead, secur
e the spacer below the Y axis.
Another possibility is to fasten a clamping set
around the Z axis. Be careful not to damage or
scratch the linear bearings.
Note:
The spacer has to be securely placed as
work will be done right below the Y axis.
If the Y ax
is falls down it could cause
injury and damage to the machine. In
case of doubt, only lift the axis for a short
distance.

For this step it
is helpful to ask a further person
for assistance.
The assisting person must push down the belt at
the gap where the deflection pulley was located,
while the bottom pulley can be turned to hook
the belt.
Pull the belt out for around one meter.
Securely hold the Y axis and remove the spacer.
Lead the belt through the space behind the Y
axis and lay the axis carefully down.

Step 7
The holding with the thread is for the belt
ending at the bottom and the one with the
smooth drill hole is for the belt ending at the
top.
Use Loctite on all screws.
Softly fasten the screws on both belt holdings as
far as the belt is secured but still has small
movement. The holdings won't be fastened
before the belt is in soft tension. This procedure
is important to assure the belt
endings lay
straight in the holdings and the force is spread
over the whole width and not only on one side.
Additionally, check that the belt is fully inside
the holdings.
Connect both holdings with the belt tensioner
screw. Tension the belt softly, meaning that you
can pull the tens
ioner to a distance of around
20mm away from the axis.
Now, strongly fasten all 8 screws of the belt
holdings.
Insert the deflection pulley
at the back of the Z
axis and make sure the belt is centered. Use
Loctite on all screws and fasten them.
If the tension of the belt is too strong to insert
the pulley, loosen it a bit.
