Introduction
2. Safety
Make sure to follow safety regulations and instructions to use the purchased equipment safely and
correctly. However, all the items regarding safety cannot be included in this manual. Therefore, note
that the accurate judgement regarding safety by operator is absolutely essential.
2.1 Common precautions
Before using
The person operating a machine must have received proper training in operating it in a safe and
correct manner.
When connecting the equipment to the power source, make sure to ground it to prevent an electric
shock.
Read the precautionary items on the mounter and the manual thoroughly and follow the directions.
Do not perform any operations other than those described in the instruction manual.
Locate the Power station for offline setup and the Power unit for carriage considering the operation
of the circuit breaker. Make sure to allow enough space to get access to the circuit protector and to
unplug the power cable from the AC inlet.
When using
Do not handle feeder with one hand. Do not detach multiple feeders at once. Feeders may fall,
resulting in personal injury, especially on your foot or damage to the feeder.
Do not use feeder in an environment where flammable gases are present or where it is extremely
dirty.
If the equipment is used incorrectly, it may result in loss of the protective function that the equipment
has. Contact YAMAHA sales representatives when feeder has problems.
When an error occurs in feeder, fully understand the type of error and the situation and power off
the mounter. Additionally, power on the mounter after removing the cause of an error completely.
Do not operate the equipment with wet hands. Otherwise it may result in an electric shock.
AS the cutter blades of the tape cut jig is very sharp, take the greatest care not to get injured.
If the tape cut jig lost the sharpness, unusually strong force is required to cut off the tape, which may
cause personal injury. In such a case, purchase a new tape cut jig.
During operation of the mounter, make sure to keep yourself (including all parts of your body and
clothing) and other objects away from the mounter's moving parts.
When the green lamp of the light tower is ON or flickering (ON and OFF), it indicates that the static
mounter is in the "Automatic" mode (standby mode). However, the mounter may suddenly starts to
operate.
In case of a disaster of any kind, earthquake, storm, flood, fire, or lightning, immediately stop the
mounter operation and power off the mounter.
When maintaining
Do not supply power to feeder whenever it is inspected, parts are replaced, or repairs or internal
adjustments are made.
Do not use water or chemical solvent for cleaning feeder, otherwise it will be damaged. Use a dry
cloth to clean the external surfaces of feeder.
Only trained personnel should perform maintenance of feeder, both carefully and in accordance with
the procedures specified.

2.2 Safety message
Safety message: The following describes precautionary items.
TIP
Provides helpful explanation for work.
n
NOTE
Provides required information when operating the machine in a simple and clear manner.
c
CAUTION
Indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, may result in minor injury, or material loss or damage to
the machine. These points are important for protecting the safety of the machine and data, etc.
w
WARNING
INDICATES A POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS SITUATION WHICH, IF NOT AVOIDED, COULD RESULT IN DEATH OR SERIOUS
INJURY. THESE ARE POINTS MOST ESSENTIAL FOR PROTECTING THE SAFETY OF THE MACHINE OPERATOR, INSPECTOR
AND SERVICE PERSONNEL.
e
If this mark is in this manual, make sure to work while a machine is ins emergency stop.
Warning label: Power station for offline setup and other equipment
To use this equipment safely and correctly, warning labels are attached to the equipment. Make sure to
understand the description of warning label and comply with the instructions.
Potential hazard
If the equipment is not connected to the power source with the specified voltage, it may
result in the breakage or malfunction of the equipment.
To avoid hazard
Make sure to connect the equipment to the power source with the specified voltage
referring to the manual.

Introduction
2.3 Keeping body and objects away from moving parts
During use of a mounter, a customer’s equipment and operating conditions might allow the operator’s
body (including parts of your body and clothing) and other objects to come into contact with moving parts.
Use the following safety measure options to avoid possible danger where openings or gaps are found on the
mounter.
Dummy feeder
Use dummy feeders as safety measures to fill a gap between feeders, to prevent your hand or body part
from inserting into it.
When the reel switching operation executed by Auto Loading Feeder, a component tape may be
protruded forcibly. If the tape ejection path (slope) is stucked by the cause of as such the remained
carriar tapes in the Dust Box, it may cause the protruding of the long carriar tape ejected forcibly into
machine from the empty slot beside of feeders.
This may cause some pickup error or machine trouble, filling the empty feeder slots using dummy
feeders is recommended around Auto Loading Feeder.
Moreover, instead of dummy feeders, the feeders described below can be used; SS feeder, ZS feeder or
Auto Loading Feeder.
Part name Part number Remarks
Dummy feeder KLJ-M34D0-01X New model
n
NOTE
Though the former model of dummy feeders (KLJ-M34D0-00X) is also provided, apply a dummy feeder described above to
fill the empty slots besides of Auto Loading Feeder.
One-stop cover
If not using a feeder exchange carriage for a mounter that is to be used with feeder exchange carriages
(excluding YSM40R), attach an one-stop cover to the position where a feeder exchange carriage is
attached to prevent body and objects from entering.

c
CAUTION
Do not apply strong impact to the one-stop cover for YRM20, as it contains a board within.
n
NOTE
One-stop cover cannot be attached/detached during operation. The mounter must be in a stopped state because the
section where a feeder exchange carriage is to be installed will move up and down for attaching or detaching the feeder
exchange carriage.
