2.7 Important Note Regarding Operation Safety
The following points must be adhered to in order to assure operating
safety:
• Those working on and with the system must be adequately qualified, in-
structed and authorised.
• The system owner must ensure that no unauthorised personnel have ac-
cess to the system.
• The system owner must ensure that those operating and working at the
system wear suitable work clothing (no wearing of loosely-fitting sleeves,
wearing of a hairnet to bundle long hair, ...)
• The plant may only be set up and serviced by pertinently trained and au-
thorised specialist staff.
• The system owner must ensure that those working on the system wear ap-
propriate personal protective equipment (such as safety goggles and pro-
tective gloves, and a breathing mask as required).
• The plant's keys to cabinets, including the electrical switchgear cabinet,
must be stored such that only staff authorised to work in the particular ar-
eas of the plant have access.
• The service key for the key switch on the control panel must be stored
where it will be accessible to qualified and authorised specialist service
staff only.
• Work on electrical circuits and electrical system parts may only be per-
formed by authorised electrical specialists.
• Use only suitable tools.
• Processes in the plant may generate toxic or flammable vapours. Provide
adequate ventilation.
• The specific storage regulations for the material used must be observed.
• Defects will pose a fire hazard. Always therefore have a CO
2
fire extin-
guisher close at hand.
• The protective devices shall not be modified. In particular, circuit breakers
may not be bypassed or protective devices removed.
• Modifications of any kind are prohibited unless their effect on the overall
functionality of the plant is fully known.
• Operational safety of the plant cannot be guaranteed unless these oper-
ating instructions are adhered to and the plant is used exclusively as de-
signed for.
• Take note of your country's specific safety regulations!
Warning!
Despite all of the safety measures provided by the manufacturer, incorrect
operation of the system may result in bodily injury (e.g. due to hot
components) and/or significant property damage. Safe operation of the
system is only assured if it is properly operated by qualified personnel in
consideration of all safety precautions!

• The owner of the plant shall be obligated to immediately inform the man-
ufacturer in writing should he identify significant danger situations during
operation of the plant, in order to allow the manufacturer to take action to-
wards reducing the potential hazards.
• Absolutely request a Rehm Thermal Systems service technician should
you need to make changes to the plant for which you have no adequately
trained staff. Rehm Thermal Systems shall reject all claims for damages
or subsequent damages on the plant caused by improper changes!

2.7.1 Sources of danger and hazard zones
Potential sources of danger include:
• Mechanical hazards
• Electrical hazards
• Hazards of hot surfaces
• Hazards posed by gases and pressurised liquids
• Hazards posed by materials and substances, including explosive atmo-
spheres
These may occur predominantly inside of the plant.
Mechanical hazards will also occur during transportation and erection of
parts of the plant.
Hazards posed by evaporating and leaking substances may also occur in
the vicinity of the plant.
2.7.2 Hazards posed by mechanical energy
Danger!
Parts may fall or topple when subassemblies are moved during transporta-
tion. Risk exists of life-threatening injury or even death.
• Keep clear of suspended loads!
• Only trained staff are allowed to handle the transport. No other persons
are allowed in the danger zone.
• Use suitable measures to prevent loads from toppling over or falling
when in transport.
• Be sure that the load capacity of your lifting equipment and transport ve-
hicles will be adequate.
• Transport staff should be 18 years of age or older.
• Use safety apparel such as hardhats, gloves and safety shoes.
Warning!
When maintenance work is carried out when the doors on the front cabinet
are open, moving parts of the conveyor system present a risk of injuries.
• Switch off the plant first and secure against accidental switch-on.
• Do not reach into moving parts before switching off.
