If you sense any danger or abnormality, press an emergency stop switch to
stop operation.
If you continue to operate the machine in a dangerous or abnormal state, a breakdown or
an accident will occur.
z
NPM has two emergency stop switches. Pressing any one of them stops operation.
Press the nearest one.
When NPM is coupled, only one of the adjacent machines stops to ensure safety from the transport
apertures of the adjacent machines. (For details, see ‘Stopping specifications when coupled.’)
Eliminate the cause of danger or abnormality, and then restart operation. (Including the adjacent
machines)
To release, turn the emergency stop switch in the direction indicated by the arrow.

Observe the following matters if putting your hands or part of body into the
moving parts of the machine in the case of production material supply,
changeover, or adjustments.
You may be injured if the machine is actuated.
And also you may receive an electric shock.
There are three levels of steps as follows, according to each kind of work.
z
Repairing such as a control BOX-------------------------------------------------
-
c
Cut off the power supplying
from the factory to the machine.
z
Turning OFF the main power supply routinely --------------------------------
-
Replacing a control part such as a sensor
Disassembling or replacing parts
(Lockout and tagout)
d
Turn OFF the main power
supply switch.
Lock the main power supply
switch.
z
Changeover or working for daily check -----------------------------------------
-
e
Setting the nozzles in the nozzle changer
Maintenance of the inside of the machine
Turn OFF the servo switch,
and then open the safety cover.
c
Cut off the power
supplying to the
machine.
Turn OFF the breaker
that is connected to the
machine.
e
Turn OFF the servo
switch, and then open
the safety cover.

Observe the following precautions in handling linear motors.
Magnetic force may cause injuries and accidents. It may also cause burns.
z
NPM uses linear motors for driving along its X- and Y-axes.
z
Since extremely powerful permanent magnets are used in the linear motors, wrong handling can be
extremely dangerous even if the main power supply is in the OFF state.
In working inside the safety covers (e.g. in maintenance), follow the rules below.
1. Those who wear pacemakers must not work inside the safety covers.
2. In working, do not wear any metals such as watches, pierced earrings, and necklaces.
3. Since the movers of linear motors become hot (80°C under 25°C environment, 90°C under 35°C
environment), take care not to suffer burns.
z
After shutdown, it may be three hours or more before they reach room temperature.
4. Do not disassemble the linear motors.
z
Since the attractive power of the stators (the magnets) is extremely powerful, disassembling
them can be extremely dangerous.
