Safety Precautions
Power Failure
Instantaneous voltage drop due to power failure or lightning will cause the built-in
computer to break down and the basic and application programs to corrupt.
It is recommended that a DC uninterruptive power supply be used as a countermeasure
against instantaneous voltage drop.
Built-In Computer
A computer is built in the machine and used to control each internal mechanism of the
machine, save various data, and realize a user interface.
When the power switch of the machine is turned off while the computer is working
(computer being accessed), the computer may break down, causing the stored data and
application programs to corrupt.
Refer to "1.4" in "Chapter 2 (Vol. 1: Guide)" for how to turn off the power
switch of the machine.
Note on Startup Operation (Running-In Operation)
After the machine has been stopped for a long period of time, perform a running-in
operation for approximately 30 minutes to smoothly start up the machine.
Refer to "5. Running-In Operation" in "Chapter 2 (Vol. 1: Guide)" for the
detailed information on the running-in operation.

Safety Precautions
5. Safety and Health Standard
z Enclosing the machine area with a barricade tape, etc., for maintenance.
During maintenance, enclose the machine area with a barricade tape, etc., to prevent
any third party from operating the machine.
Put the caution label "DO NOT OPERATE" on the machine where people can easily
notice to prevent any third party from operating the machine. Otherwise, a third party
may turn on the power switch of the machine during the maintenance work and the
machine will start running abruptly, causing an electric shock or an injury.
z The service personnel should wear specified work uniforms not only urge them
to realize that they are in charge of an important service but also to make it easily
noticeable that they are sent off on servicing work by Hitachi High-Technologies.

Safety Precautions
z They should put on safety shoes.
It is advisable that they should wear safety shoes to avoid injuries that may be caused
while they are handling a heavy stuff such as a motor.
It may sometimes be recommended that service personnel should wear the customer
specified pairs of shoes.
z When more than one person should be engaged in servicing, a leader should
be selected in advance. The others should follow the leader's instructions.
A group of people in charge of servicing work should clearly understand the
assignments to avoid any misjudgment or mistaken actions.
For safety purposes, it is really essential to select a leader who will decide what or
how to do next and give proper assignments to the others.
z Be sure to turn off the power unless necessary.
"Power ON" means that the machine can be activated at any time.
As long as the machine has some defects, it must be assumed that the machine will
work in an unexpected condition.
It is strongly advisable that the power should always be kept off unless necessary.
z When the machine should be powered, be sure to confirm the location of the
[EMERGENCY STOP] switches and the [POWER] switch beforehand to be
ready for emergencies.
The past reported cases indicate that most of the accidents must have been avoided by
pressing an [EMERGENCY STOP] switch.
Unfortunately some accidents were not avoided because any one of the
[EMERGENCY STOP] switches was not pushed.
When a hazardous element is perceived, an [EMERGENCY STOP] switch must be
pushed immediately, giving no time to visually confirm the location of the button.
An accident will occur so suddenly that no one can think of even pressing an
[EMERGENCY STOP] switch.
Whenever you or someone else enters a hazardous area, one of you must put your
hand on an [EMERGENCY STOP] switch and get ready for pressing it at an
emergency before the other one starts any assigned job.
