2 Feature Description – Station Software V701.x
Features (V701.2 and V701.3)
1. Placement list
By clicking of the icon the "Boards" view is opened. The list of the placement positions
is displayed. The placement positions can be sorted (e.g. at component name) by using filter
combinations. The placement positions can be selected separately. For example, you can
specify the following options for individual positions:
– Omit positions (Skip)
– Single placement (Place)
– Postpone of components (Postpone)
The placement positions can be separately inspected by the PCB camera.
When a placement error occurs, e.g. a component is still on nozzle, the placement list is
displayed. The user set manually the option for this component.
2. Password-protected activity levels for certain user groups.
3. Placement mode "I-Placement"
In this placement mode both gantries in one placement area work independently of the other
gantry, i.e. in every placement area one PCB is produced by only one placement head.
Thereby the placement performance increases.
4. Teaching of fiducial positions, pickup positions, components, component pocket shapes,
component shapes.
5. Changing the setup
6. Automatic download of the embedded software
7. Automatic pitch download
8. Display of the placement performance, component level indicator
9. Display of error messages
10. Calibration of the component table
11. Calibration of the machine
The calibration of the machine can be performed with minimal operator interaction.
At first, select all the calibration steps to be processed. Then change the settings using the
software wizard. Afterwards you start the calibration of the machine without any further
intervention. The automatic machine calibration comprises the following steps:
– Calibration of the machine positions
– PCB mapping
– Mapping of the head
12. Splice detection
13. Setup verification

14. "Hot Swap" mode
After the setup data has been assigned to the x feeder, the x feeder can be removed and setup
to another position of the same X-table. Thereby, the assigned setup data will not be getting
lost. The new position may not be already used by another feeder and not be specified by the
setup.
15. Flexible setup management
Switching between the product setup and the PCB setup is possible.
The display mode of the feeder LED can be switched (line wide) by the setup center via SSI.
16. Nozzle changer
For the SIPLACE X4i machine, only one line of nozzle changer can be setup on each of the
gantry.
– Gantry 1 and gantry 3 each with 6 magazines
– Gantry 2 and gantry 4 each with 4 magazines because of the mirrored gantries
17. Support of traceability
18. SIPLACE XPL – third conveyor lane (hardware option)
19. "Recovery Placement" – recovery exactly by position (hardware option)
For any placement position with unknown state, the user can manually set the state "placed" or
"not placed". Boards that were recovered by using the mode "Automatical Recovery" are
conveyed automatically to the next machine.
20. PCB barcode (hardware option)
The number of characters for the PCB barcode is limited to 40.
When using the synchronous dual conveyor, the PCB barcode is limited to 2 x 40 characters.
21. Supported hardware options with interface to the station software 701.x
– Sensor for reject bin
– PCB barcode reader
– Recovery Placement
22. Forced Setup Verification
The forced setup verification at the SIPLACE placement machine can be activated via
SIPLACE Setup Center. The forced setup verification monitors the verification status of
individual tracks. Non-verified tracks are disabled to force setup verification.
Forced setup verification is carried out with a connection to the station and requires successful
setup verification before production. This is implemented as follows: once an order or a
packaging unit changeover has been downloaded, the machine deactivates all divisions in
which there are packaging units for which no setup verification data has been received. This
means the line operator needs to successfully verify all the necessary components/packaging
units for the product before production can begin. A detailed description can be found in the
"Installation Manual SIPLACE Setup Center 3.0", item no. [00195642-xx].
