4.13.6 Rotational Angle Compensation for Short, Wide Boards
In this station software the PCB position (offset and angle) per PCB type and the stopper position
are taught if mechanical stoppers are available. The station software uses the detected position of
the current board to determine the start position of the following board.
Restrictions
After the station software has been shut down, the start offset is not available anymore.
4.13.7 Display of Conveyor Input/Output States on the GUI
As the conveyor hardware does not have any LEDs to display the input/output states, all conveyor
inputs/outputs are displayed on the GUI, so that the operator can check them. Additionally, the
operator can set single outputs, if the placement machine is not in placement mode. The SIPLACE
Service activity level is required for this feature.
4.13.8 Boards on Sensor in Input Conveyor
It is not possible to put the boards manually on the sensor in the input conveyor on the SX1/SX2
placement machine. However, the board has to be put manually on the conveyors (but not on the
sensor). By pressing the Drive board button in the Production view, the board in the input
conveyor is transported onto the sensor.
4.14 Changeover Tables 60 and 30
The station software supports the changeover table 60 and the changeover table 30 on the
SX1/SX2 placement machine. The changeover table 60 accomodates a table with 60 tracks. The
changeover table 30 accomodates a table with 30 tracks.
4.14.1 New Location Type WPC + Changeover Table 30
A WPC (Waffle Pack Changer) and a changeover table 30 can be placed side by side at one
location of an SX1/SX2 placement machine. However, the table can only be placed on the right
side of the WPC. The devices get sub-numbers, counted from left to right, beginning with 1.
Although the WPC is not placed, the table gets the sub-number 2.
4.14.2 New Button on the GUI for Inserting/Removing Table
In the Feeders, components and nozzles view, the table can be removed or inserted via a new
button. This allows the access to the conveyor, e.g. to eliminate a PCB jam.
NOTICE
The button is only visible if no docking unit control is available.

4.15 WPC5 Support
The WPC5 (Waffle Pack Carrier) is supported by the SX1/SX2 placement machine and is a feed
unit like the MTC. However, the WPC has only one tower that is divided into 28 levels and is not
further divided into cassettes as the MTC. The level structure is similar to a manual tray and
contains n trays that are created by the setup specification. As for setup verification and filling level
administration, the WPC behaves like the MTC.
See also section 4.14.1 "New Location Type WPC + Changeover Table 30".
4.15.1 Endurance Runs for Axes
Endurance runs can be performed for single axes (lift axis and feed axis) or for combined axes.
During the endurance runs for single axes, the axis moves bidirectionally between two positions
within the minimal and maximal positioning range. During the endurance runs for combined axes,
the WPC simulates an endurance testing under real conditions. The Machine service activity level
is required to perform the endurance runs. The operator can make the settings for the endurance
runs on the GUI under Manual operations – Endurance runs – WPC endurance run
(MTC endurance run respectively).
4.16 Parking Position for Gantries during Maintenance
Depending on the number of gantries, there are different maintenance positions on the SX1/SX2
placement machines. The operator has to select the placement head to be maintained on the GUI
and send the gantries to the parking position above the PCB conveyor.
After a fatal "track-empty error", the gantries are moved automatically to the parking position, so
that the operator can correct the error immediately.
4.17 H-Gantry Calibration (Y-Axis) / Encoder Alignment
On the SX1/SX2 placement machine so-called "H-gantries" are used. Their Y-axis has two drives
positioned oppositely to each other and each of the drives has an own closed-loop control. Each
drive uses its own encoder (encoder = unit of scale and a corresponding scanning unit to
determine the axis position).
In order to ensure a correct position control for the Y-axis of the H-gantry and, if necessary, to
enable the reference run of the main axes, an encoder alignment has to be performed for the
respective Y-axis. The SIPLACE Service activity level is required for that.
The encoder alignment is selected on the GUI under Machine Calibration – Y-axis: encoder
alignment.

4.18 X-Axis Calibration (Axis Parametrization)
The valid parameters for the X-axis differ depending on installation location, placement head type
and individual machine base. Therefore, a corresponding calibration step exists for the SX1/SX2
placement machine. During the station software boot, it is checked if the X-axis parameters are
valid. If they are invalid, an error message is displayed on the GUI and the operator is prompted to
perform the required calibration step (axis parametrization). The SIPLACE Service activity level is
required for that. The axis parametrization is selected on the GUI under Machine calibration – X-
axis: parametrization. After that the overall reference run is performed. Detailed information can
be found in the User manual to SX1/SX2, order no. 00196457-xx.
4.19 Component Counter State
Via CAN it can be queried, whether a component counter has been integrated on the IO
component. The IO component has an ID with which the station software can find out, if the
component has been exchanged since the latest boot. Via an IO component interface, the current
counter state can be queried by the station software.
The IO component stores the counter state in the EPROM at fixed intervals. The counter state also
gets stored when the machine shuts down (but not on switch-off!).
The counter state is displayed on the GUI in the Manual Operations view under Entire machine –
Component count. If an error occurs a warning is displayed, and the error cause is visible in the
event history.
4.20 New Mapping Plate
A mapping plate with special measurements is used on the SX1/SX2 placement machine. The
positions and, if applicable, the number of the available, high-precision fiducials on the mapping
plate are different compared to the mapping plates of the X-series.
4.21 Dip Module LDU_X
The dip module LDU_X is supported on the SX1/SX2 placement machine with the CPP, C&P20A
and TwinHead placement heads.
4.22 Fiducials for Stationary Cameras
On the SX1/SX2 placement machine a stationary IC camera is installed as default. Optionally, a
stationary FC camera can be installed. To measure the position, a camera fiducial is available for
the stationary default camera. For the optional stationary camera, a fiducial plate is required for the
measurement.
